Second annual Art Studio Tour happening Oct. 7-9

Plan an arts weekend getaway for the beautiful Carson Valley for Oct. 7-9, 2022. Fourteen studios with 30 artists are featured on the second annual Carson Valley Art Studio Tour. Meet the artists and learn about their creative process. All artists will have some of their work for sale.

The Floyd returns to Carson City this weekend

Lights, music, and lasers! The Floyd is returning Carson City this weekend at the Carson City Community Center. Dubbed as "The West Coast's most sophisticated and authentic Pink Floyd Concert Experience," The Floyd brings the work of Pink Floyd to life with an immersive viewer experience.

League of Women Voters will hold four Carson City election forums in October

The League of Women Voters of Northern Nevada, in partnership with Sierra Nevada Forums and AAUW Capital NV Branch, will present a series of election forums on October 7, 10, 11 and 17 beginning at 6 pm each night at the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall, 511 W. King St in Carson City. Doors open at 5:30 pm. The forums are co-sponsored by the Nevada Appeal.

Carson High School Marching Band hosts Chili Bingo Fundraiser Friday

This Friday, Oct. 7, at 5:30 p.m., support Carson High School's award-winning Blue Thunder Bands program as they host their annual family Chili/Bingo Night in the CHS gym. More than 100 businesses made donations this year, and the band is raffling off thousands of dollars' worth of prizes. They are also giving away prizes in their bingo games and auctioning off items in a silent auction.

Adaptive mountain bike workshop happening Friday in Carson City

If you are unable to ride a traditional two-wheeled mountain bike because of an injury or disability, perhaps a three-wheeled adaptive mountain bike is the ticket to get you out on the trails!

Carson Tahoe Health aims to turn the Silver State pink in October for breast cancer awareness

Minden's Kids and Horses program to host workshop for those living with dementia and their caretakers

Kids and Horses Therapeutic Riding Center, located at 2869 Esaw St. in Minden is hosting a series of workshops by Connected Horse, a research-based program designed to support people diagnosed in the early stages of dementia and their care partners. The fall workshops run for two consecutive Saturdays.

Today was a very productive day working in the yard. The cold weather kept me in far too long recently. I wanted to be outside. The temperature was perfect with a bright blue sky and little wind.

A 40-year-old man was arrested Wednesday for suspicion of carrying a concealed knife without a permit, a gross misdemeanor offense, and misdemeanor disturbing the peace, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.
