Nevada’s labor force grows in October, Carson City down slightly; unemployment unchanged

Nevada’s unemployment rate was unchanged from September to October with the rate staying at 5.4 percent, according to the state's Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation's monthly economic report.
Carson Ranger District opens firewood cutting near Markleeville

The Carson Ranger District of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest is opening a public fuelwood area near Markleeville, Calif., in Alpine County. Cut logs are decked at various locations within the Tamarack Restoration Project area, primarily in the Pleasant Valley Road and Thornburg Canyon.

Carson City shelter dogs treated to first annual Pupsgiving feast and celebration

The first annual Puppy Thanksgiving was celebrated Friday at the Nevada Humane Society in Carson City with a gourmet festive dinner and lots of love.
The dogs were gifted with a Thanksgiving dinner to rally any family feast with hand made “pup”cakes, chicken, sweet potatoes, and more!

There were some exciting turkey scientists at Fritsch Elementary School in Carson City on Friday morning as kindergarten students donned sterile gowns and explored the anatomy of the beloved bird.
The young scholars also calculated diagrams and created turkey traps as they prepare for Thanksgiving next week.
