Carson City community radio KNVC general manager Steve Funk to speak at Rotary meeting Tuesday, public invited

Members of the Rotary Club of Carson City will learn about the impact community radio stations have in their broadcast area. The public is invited to join the Rotarians at the club meeting tomorrow, Tuesday, when Steve Funk, KNVC’s General Manager, will talk with members about the station’s role in our community as well as the evolving landscape of media. KNVC airs on 95.1 FM in Carson City.
Carson City sheriff's deputies make arrests for burglary, property destruction and DUI

A 58-year-old man was arrested Sunday for suspicion of felony commercial burglary and an alternative sentencing violation, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.

UNR provides advanced education needed for wildland firefighters

Yet, there are federal education and training requirements for many wildland fire personnel, to equip them with the knowledge and skills needed to do their challenging jobs and make the right decisions considering a complex web of factors.

Huge crowds were par for the course this week as the 34th annual American Century Championship was held at Edgewood Tahoe. It came down to the last hole to separate the two leaders, Mardy Fish and Steph Curry.

Just prior to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine there was a movement afoot to erect a statue of Mark Twain in Odessa. But why, you might want to ask as I did. Well, the short answer is, “To promote goodwill and tourism.” Isn’t it a twist of fate that what we are sending them today is cluster munitions to protect themselves.

Lyon County investigators arrest man for open murder, arson in death of Fernley woman

A man was arrested Sunday for suspicion of open murder and arson following an investigation into a fire intentionally set at a Fernley residence Saturday in which a woman was found dead, according to the Lyon County Sheriff's Office.

Just when I thought we had vegetable protection handled with all the cages we rebuilt last week, I found my basil leaves riddled with holes with barely any leaf surface left. As I looked more closely, I discovered caterpillars, mostly on the undersides of the leaves.
