Carson City Fire Department respond to hedge fire on Miller Way near North Division

UPDATE: The fire has been knocked down. The cause is under investigation.

Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies were called late Tuesday morning to a hedge fire near a residence on Miller Way off North Division Street.

East Fork Station 8 hosts annual barbecue and concert fundraiser August 12

The annual East Fork Sheridan Volunteer Fire Station’s barbecue and concert is returning to Centerville Lane in Gardnerville on Saturday, August 12.

The Sheridan Station is a volunteer fire station, manned by a portion of more than 30 volunteer firefighters who are scattered throughout the East Fork district. The Sheridan station has been in operation by volunteers since the 1940s.

Carson City sheriff deputies make arrests for domestic battery, warrants

A 32-year-old man was arrested Sunday for suspicion of domestic battery, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.

A new survey from Country Financial finds the economy continues to have a negative impact on Americans’ finances. The number of Americans who rate their level of financial security as excellent or good declined by 5 points since Q4 2022.

Additionally, Americans are setting aside less money for savings or investments (53%) and feel less confident in their ability to enjoy a comfortable retirement when the time comes (56%) compared to Q1 2023 (55% and 60%, respectively).
