Carson City sheriff's deputies make arrests for burglary, property destruction and DUI

A 58-year-old man was arrested Sunday for suspicion of felony commercial burglary and an alternative sentencing violation, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.

Robert Eugene Moorhead was taken into custody at 1:43 a.m. following an investigation into a break-in at the old airport off of Flint Road. The location had been burglarized the previous two nights and the latest incident was the third night.

A reporting party advised there was a vehicle and that the suspect went inside a hangar and then drove westbound on the runway. A deputy was able to get behind the suspect vehicle as it pulled onto Flint Road, and conducted a traffic stop.

Other deputies arrived on scene. The suspect, who was identified as Robert Moorhead, complied with verbal commands given. He was placed into cuffs and detained, the report states.

During the investigation, the reporting party was able to identify property found inside Moorhead's vehicle. The suspect admitted to stealing items from hangar six and explained that he was just trying to make extra money and that he's homeless. He was asked about the other burglaries at the location and he advised this was the only time he was there.

During a search of the vehicle, officers recovered property stolen from the burglary that night but there wasn't property from the two other burglaries, the report states. Moorhead was booked for the burglary and a Department of Alternative Sentencing violation of probation, which came with a "no bail" hold. He was booked for commercial burglary. Bail: $10,000.

Officers arrived and spoke with the suspect, and asked if they could see his hand. The man, at first replied "yes you can" and then would not show his right hand, attempting to conceal it and then began to arguing with the officer. Others in the bar were also checked for hand injuries and were cooperative, willing to allow officers to check their hands for injuries.

Castillo was asked if he wished to speak. Several people around Castillo said no, he doesn't want to talk, but Castillo said yes. He walked off to the side, where he was presented with a CCSO business card with the officer's information. As the officer tried to explain the situation, Castillo became argumentative and showed signs of being intoxicated.

He was placed into cuffs for obstructing the investigation. At 7:23 a.m. a woman walked into the area of the investigation, and during the middle of an interview, demanded to know why her son was in the back of a patrol car. Her demeanor was hostile, and she was using foul language. She was asked to step away from the investigation. She was detained due to her not complying and not stepping away from the investigation.

Suspect Castillo then began kicking the inside of the patrol vehicle, causing several dents. He was arrested for suspicion of destruction of property, a felony, and misdemeanor obstructing an officer. Bail: $3,549.
