Sunday is final evening of Living Nativity hosted by Carson City's First United Methodist Church

Sunday evening is the last night the Carson City community can experience a living Nativity displaying the sight, sounds and emotions as they witness the story of Mary and Joseph’s journey on the road to Bethlehem to give birth to Jesus.

The First United Methodist Church drive-through, Living Nativity began Saturday and resumes Sunday evening from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The drive-through entrance begins at King and Division Streets in Carson City.

Carson City area weather: Storms to bring 'feet' of snow to Sierra, several inches to valley floors

The first of two winter storms is expected to bring several feet of snow to the Sierra and several inches to the valley floor as it make its way through the Sierra and western Nevada region Sunday and lasting into Tuesday, with a light break in activity before another storm begins later Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.

Carson City Slaughterhouse

The Slaughterhouse goes back to the Planning Commission on Wednesday, December 15, at the Community Center in the Bob Crowell room. It starts at 3pm, but the slaughterhouse's application most likely will not be reviewed until 5p.m. or later, depending on how much time other agenda items take. You are all welcome to attend.

A 24-year-old Carson City man was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon after a fight occurred in the area of Dale Dr. involving multiple weapons.

Carson City deputies arrest man for possessing a ‘home-made shotgun’ among other felony, misdemeanor crimes

A 33-year-old Silver Springs man was arrested early Thursday morning for multiple offenses including being a fugitive from justice, driving without a drivers license, insurance, or registration, possession of a controlled substance and paraphernalia, and possessing a “home-made shotgun.”

Kaki King appearance at CVIC canceled

The Kaki King Concert scheduled for Friday, February 4 at the CVIC Hall in Minden has been postponed. It is being rescheduled to October 7, 2022 as part of our Fall Concert Series.

If you have already purchased tickets you may keep them and they will be good for the rescheduled show in October. If you wish a refund you may contact the CVAC office at 775-782-8207.

Donors help WNC provide food to hungry students in Carson City

Carson City’s Night off the Streets reports increase in needs for shelter; seeks volunteers, donations as houseless guests increase

Carson City’s Night off the Streets (NOTS) has been taking on the important work of offering nightly shelter for those who have none during the cold winter months. Each year, that need increases within Carson City, and so far, there have been zero deaths from being forced to sleep outside in the community since NOTS took on this role.

However, due to COVID restrictions as well as a lack of a single, consistent shelter location, that may not always be the case.

Heavenly Mountain Resort and Kirkwood open Saturday

With the fresh snow and more in the forecast in the coming days, both Heavenly and Kirkwood have announced they will open for skiing and riding on Saturday, December 11.

Temperatures have been steadily dropping and their snowmakers have been working around the clock to prepare the resorts for opening.
