Nevada reflects on first year of COVID-19 vaccination efforts

CARSON CITY — Tuesday, Dec. 14 marks one year since the first doses of COVID-19 vaccine arrived in Nevada. From the first allocation of 17,550 doses of Pfizer vaccine through today, more than half of eligible Nevadans have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.

It’s hard to be a restaurant owner these days and it’s not going to get easier anytime soon as many of us hunker down for the winter and for those who prefer to eat out, the choices are getting slimmer as restaurants trim their hours.
Carson City's Bethlehem Lutheran School spelling bee winners announced

On Friday, Dec. 3, Bethlehem Lutheran School in Carson City hosted its annual Spelling Bee. Students in grades 1-8 competed in three different age-leveled spelling bees. In the first bee, 2nd grader Jay Chung placed first. In the 3rd-5th grade bee, 5th grader Nicholas Theiss came out victorious. This qualifies Nicholas for the City Bee, which will be held in January.

Nevada Rural Housing Authority is accepting holiday gift donations for the residents of the Richards Crossing apartment complex in Carson City. Richards Crossing is focused on serving veterans, seniors and homeless individuals in need of safe and affordable housing. NRHA has created an Amazon Wish List based on the residents’ needs.

To those seeking to understand the rights and responsibilities of becoming a U.S. citizen, English Language Learners In-Home Program is offering free U.S. Citizenship classes starting Saturday, Jan. 8, 2022 in the Digitorium Room (1st Floor) at Carson City's Public Library, 900 N. Roop Street, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Leading slaughterhouse opponent submits documents that inadvertently support Carson Valley Meats' proposed facility

A representative of a coalition group opposing the proposed Carson Valley Meats processing facility has sent a letter to the Carson City Planning Commission, which includes links to 99 documents cited as evidence of the harms of slaughterhouses.
