National Weather Service issues Dense Smoke Advisory for Reno, Carson City region
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Wed, 08/19/2020 - 7:55amUPDATE: The National Weather Service in Reno has issued a Dense Smoke Advisory for the greater Reno, Carson City and Carson Valley areas including Sparks, Verdi, Gardnerville and Virginia City. The advisory is in effect until 11 a.m. Thursday. Visibility is below 3 miles with unhealthy air quality for sensitive groups. The advisory says to expect periods of dense smoke and unhealthy air quality through Thursday morning. Winds may help improve air quality into Wednesday night before smoke returns to the area by early Thursday morning.

This brings the total number of cases to 894, with 752 recoveries and 15 deaths, 127 cases remain active.
