Carson City, Quad region COVID-19 Wednesday briefing: 12 new cases, 39 recoveries

This brings the total number of cases to 906, with 791 recoveries and 15 deaths, 100 cases remain active.
Carson City Sheriff's Office requests public's help in locating bicycle bandit

DETR: Unemployment Rate Improves; Employment Adds Jobs Back for Third Month Straight in July
Submitted by Kelsey Penrose on Wed, 08/19/2020 - 2:58pmAccording to the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation’s (DETR) July 2020 economic report, employment in Nevada realized an increase of 14,800 jobs over the month and saw a decrease of -138,700 jobs since July 2019, or -9.8%.
The total employment level in the State is 1,281,100. The state’s unemployment rate is 14% this month, down 1.2 percentage point from June but up 10.1 percentage point when compared to July 2019.
Speeders on Carson City Sheriff's Office's radar as part of school zone campaign

The Carson City Sheriffs Office is joining forces to increase high-visibility patrols from August 22, through Sept. 2, 2020, for motorists exceeding the speed limit.
Draft Carson City zoning code amendments available for public review

City of Sparks announces passing of Mayor Ron Smith
Submitted by editor on Wed, 08/19/2020 - 12:03pmAfter an almost two-year battle with pancreatic cancer, Sparks Mayor Ron Smith has died. He was 71 years old.
Mayor Smith was officially sworn in as the 25th Mayor of Sparks on November 13, 2018. He was elected to the Sparks City Council in November 2006 and was re-elected to four-year terms in 2008, 2012 and 2016. He served as Sparks Mayor Pro Tempore from 2012-2018.
