Carson City, Quad region COVID-19 Thursday briefing: 6 new cases, 10 recoveries

Carson City Health and Human Services is reporting Thursday, August 20, 2020 that there are six new cases and 10 recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County region. This brings the total number of cases to 912, with 801 recoveries and fifteen deaths, 96 cases remain active.

Carson City non-profits awarded nearly $800,000 in COVID-19 relief funding via CARES Act

Fifteen Carson City non-profits were awarded nearly $800,000 in COVID-19 relief funding via the CARES act during the Board of Supervisor's meeting held Thursday.

The State of Nevada through the CARES Act has allocated over $10 million in Coronavirus Relief Funds “CRF” to Carson City. Carson City’s Preliminary Plan of Expenditure allocated $1 million to be awarded to non-profit organizations located in Carson City.

Special medallions commemorating the historical Coach 17 train car will be minted on Coin Press No. 1 at the Nevada State Museum, Carson City. Coach 17 is the rail car that was present at Promontory Summit, Utah, in 1869, when the nation’s first transcontinental railroad was completed. It is part of the Nevada State Railroad Museum’s collection.
