NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City of Carson City will conduct a public meeting on September 9, 2020 at 9:00 a.m. (All meetings will be online, please see directions below), in order to discuss possible applications for funding under the next fiscal year’s (July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2022) State Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program and to solicit citizen input on possible activities to be included in the application.

Brewery Arts Center's Flatbed Concert Series to bring Country, folk music to Schulz Ranch neighborhood

The Brewery Arts Center will deliver live music directly to the citizens of Carson City while practicing social distancing once again this week.

Miles Construction Company has generously donated the use of a Flatbed Truck and with financial support from The Change Companies, the Nauman Foundation, and Carson Tahoe Hospital, all summer the BAC has placed musicians and bands on the flatbed and driven them through the streets and neighborhoods of Carson City and now the fun goes into September.

An accident involving two vehicles was reported just after 12 p.m. on Friday on Highway 50 near Golf Club.

A 44-year-old Carson City woman was arrested at a local gas station for possession of controlled substances after she was approached by a Carson City deputy while sitting on a curb waiting for a ride to work.

Special Olympics Nevada extends 'Flame of Hope' virtual run and fundraiser

Special Olympics Nevada (SONV) is extending the time of its first-ever “Flame of Hope” virtual run and fundraiser.

From now until September 30, SONV is asking the community to support its athletes and programs by registering to walk, run, bike, or swim a 10k, 5k, or the distance of a JR. run.

Loyalton Fire update for Friday, August 21: 60 percent contained, almost 50,000 acres have burned

As of 7 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 21, the Loyalton Fire has burned 46,872 and is 60% contained. At least five homes and six outbuildings have been destroyed in the fire. No casualties or injuries have been reported.

Crews worked overnight to find and extinguish heat sources interior to containment lines near Balls Canyon Ranch and along the southern fire perimeter. Priorities today are to continue to strengthen lines, backhaul excess equipment, and identify remaining heat sources.

Carson and Mills Park Railroad offers rides weekends through Labor Day

Come ride Nevada's only operating 2-foot gauge railroad in Carson City's Mills Park. Saturdays and Sundays through Labor Day, 12 noon to 4 p.m. Tickets are $2 per person, children 3 and under are free, and can be purchased at the Depot in Mills Park.

Open studio tour, drive-in movie, dancing and more highlight weekend activities in Carson City region

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region. The 2020 Jazz & Beyond Music and Art Festival will include the second annual Carson City Open Studios Tour with multiple locations. Hosted by the Carson City Classic Cinema Club, the Brewery Arts Center is holding a drive-in movie showing of the 1950s classic “Shane” on Saturday.
