He is a senior at Carson High School, and his last year is, to say the least, unconventional. Adults have had their say, so how about a chat with this popular young man as he sports a 1980s hairstyle called a mullet in which the hair is short on the sides and long at the front and back.

Food and Nutrition Services resume Monday for Carson City School District students

Beginning Monday, Aug. 24, meals (breakfast and lunch together) for students in the Carson City School District will be available at all school sites for pick up from 9-11 a.m. Students may go to any school to get meals regardless of the school they attend.

Quad-County reporting seven new cases one recovery on Saturday, Aug. 22

We are reporting 7 new cases and 1 recovery of COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. This brings the total number of cases to 933, with 810 recoveries and 15 deaths, 108 cases remain active.

Carson City Power Outage affects approximately 100 NV Energy Customers Saturday

A power outage Saturday affected 108 Carson City residents, according to NV Energy.

Several homes and businesses were affected near N. Carson Street. The estimated time of restoration was at 5 p.m. according to NV Energy.

Partnership Carson City, a local organization that inspires a healthy community by building strong families and successful youth, is honoring those who have lost their life to an overdose with a Facebook live event Thursday, August 27 at 6 p.m. The event coincides with International Overdose Awareness Day.

DETR: Regular UI Continued Claims Fall by 95k to Lowest Levels Since Mid-April; PUA Claims Activity Declines

Finalized data from the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation (DETR) show initial claims for unemployment insurance (UI) totaled 10,938 for the week ending August 15, down 6,817 claims, compared to last week’s total of 17,755 claims.

Through the week ending August 15, there have been 653,510 initial claims filed in 2020, 631,858 of which have been filed since the week ending March 14.

Douglas County Hosts Public Workshops, Public Information Website on 2020 Master Plan Text Update

Douglas County is kicking off the process to update the Master Plan Text and is calling on residents to help shape the future of their community. A webpage has been constructed to provide the public with additional information regarding the update and public outreach has begun.

The goals and objectives contained in the Douglas County Master Plan text guides the decisions of the Board of County Commissioners and the Planning Commission related to the long term planning and development of the County over the next 10-20 years.

Carson City Toyota Donates to Advocates to End Domestic Violence to help with funding shortage

Carson City Toyota is proud to donate to Advocates to End Domestic Violence, who provide much-needed services in our community for victims of domestic violence.

Typically, Taste of Downtown is the largest annual fundraiser for the nonprofit. Due to COVID-19, the event has unfortunately been cancelled.

Fourteen new COVID-19 cases brings Quad-County total to 926 on Friday, Aug. 21

Carson City Health and Human Services is reporting 14 new cases and eight recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. This brings the total number of cases to 926, with 809 recoveries and fifteen deaths, 102 cases remain active.
