NHP: State Route 28 near Chimney Beach at Tahoe reopens after large boulder removed

UPDATE 5:45PM: Nevada Highway Patrol says that NDOT was able to clear the boulder out faster than expected and SR28 is now open.

Nevada Highway Patrol Northern Command reports that a large boulder fell on to State Route 28 near Chimney Beach at the Carson City/Washoe County line, blocking both directions of travel.

Bike rider saves himself after part of trail collapses, plunging him into fast moving Carson River

UPDATE 7PM: A man who was heard yelling for help along the Carson River on Monday afternoon told Carson City paramedics that he was riding his bicycle when the ground collapsed beneath, sending him and his bike into the river, Fire Department Battalion Chief Chris Mason said.

The Reno Rodeo 100, a multimedia project collecting stories leading up to the 100-year anniversary of the Reno Rodeo, is debuting the first storytelling event this Saturday, May 13 at the Governor’s Mansion in Carson City. Tickets are available for the event, which includes short documentary films, audio stories with slides and live storytellers.
