We will meet at the Lakeview group picnic area. Its Nevada's FREE fishing Day. No license required.

We will have a limited supply of fishing poles available. Please bring your own poles, bait and chairs.

Prizes for the largest fish caught that day by both boy and girl, raffle and FREE lunch at the end of the derby.

The Nevada Department of Transportation is alerting drivers and organizations to prepare for an upcoming change to exit numbers on Interstate 580 from South Carson Street in Carson City to the Reno spaghetti bowl.

NHP arrests man for impersonating officer between Carson City and Dayton

CARSON CITY — A concerned motorist notified Nevada Highway Patrol troopers Thursday, May 9 that a white Nissan Frontier pick-up truck was operating with red and blue flashing lights and using the lights to move vehicles over and out of the way.

Spring is finally here, and Carson City is decked out in her spring finery. Sunday will be perfect for a stroll around town, so while you are out and about, stop by Mills Park for the Parks Foundation’s monthly open house at the Wungnema House, from 2 pm to 5 pm.

The Wungnema House is the charming stone cottage located on the east side of Mills Park across from Carson High. It was built by a family of skilled Hopi stonemasons shortly after WWII and served as the family’s home until the early 1970s.

There is no admission fee, and all are welcome.

Another storm system will move its way into the region Tuesday, bringing rain and gusty winds to Carson City and lower valley regions and heavy, wet snow to the Sierra through Thursday and possibly beyond, according to the National Weather Service.

While much of the Sierra is under a Winter Storm Warning, strong wind gusts in Carson City and throughout much of Western Nevada has prompted the National Weather Service to issue a Wind Advisory for the region through 10 p.m. Wednesday.

Power outages in Carson City, high winds close Washoe Valley to all vehicles over 9 feet

Multiple power outages are being reported early Monday afternoon around Carson City and Douglas County due to a weather system that prompted a High Wind Warning earlier this morning for much of the region. Meanwhile, wind gusts flipped two vehicles on I-580 north of Carson City in Washoe Valley late Monday morning causing some traffic delays.

This annual golf tournament is played in honor of Realtor Alyce McCracken, a resident of Northern Nevada who had a passion for continuing education and training. Proceeds from the tournament benefit local high schools in the communities served by the Sierra Nevada Realtors including the counties of Carson City, Douglas, Churchill, and parts of Lyon.

Carson City Fire Department on scene of multiple rollovers in Washoe Valley

Carson City Firefighter-Paramedics were called to the scene of a two-vehicle collision on Interstate 580 in Washoe Valley near the Bellevue overpass Saturday night.

The collision in the northbound travel lanes resulted in the rollover of one vehicle.

Carson City area Winter road conditions for Friday, Feb. 15

Chains or traction tires are required on the following road ways in and out of Carson City Friday:

— Interstate 580 through Carson City, from the Spooner Junction at South Carson Street to Eastlake Blvd at the top of Lakeview Hill.

— U.S. Highway 50 from the Highway 395 junction at William Street to Deer Run Road in Carson City, and mile post 14 in Carson City to mile post 10.8 in Churchill County.

Road closures, travel restrictions on area roads Sunday morning

Heavy snow fell overnight in the Carson City area, resulting in more chain and traction tire requirements on local roads.

Travel restrictions are currently in place Sunday morning for Interstate 580 from about the Washoe County line through Washoe Valley to mile post 15.0 in Washoe County.

Chains or snow tires also required for Old U.S. Highway 395 Alternate from the Bowers Mansion interchange to the SR 431/341 junction in South Reno, the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) said.

New golf club forming

Attention Golfers!

A new golf club is being formed and is now accepting members. The club is called Washoe Valley Golfers, and we will be playing every Wednesday morning at Toiyabe Golf Club. We will also have a monthly away tournament at nearby golf courses.

While our members will be primarily senior men, we will not have an age limit.

Our formats will be Individual Stroke Play (ISP), 2 Man Best Ball, 4 Man 2 Best Ball, 2 or 4 Man Scramble.

Carson City area road conditions for Feb. 6

Slick, icy conditions exist for the morning commute around Carson City Wednesday. The Nevada Department of Transportation has posted chains or snow tires required for the following roadways:

Snow-covered roads throughout the region have resulted in travel restrictions for the Tuesday morning commute.

Traction tires or chains are required on the following roadways in Carson City and surrounding areas:

NHP, REMSA and Truckee Meadows fire on scene of I-580 rollover in Washoe Valley

Carson City firefighter-paramedics were initially called to assist with a two-vehicle rollover accident that occurred Monday afternoon in the southbound lanes of Interstate 580 at the Bellevue overpass in Washoe Valley.

However, the Carson City units were recalled while en route. There is no extrication at the scene of the accident, according to Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District rescuers on scene.

Nevada Highway Patrol, Truckee Meadows Fire and REMSA are currently on scene working the accident. No word yet on the extent of any injuries.
