Homecoming is more than just a football game, it encompasses multiple celebratory events such as bonfires, tailgate parties, dances, and the crowning of a King and Queen. Fall is in the air in Carson City, and a change in the weather was one more reason for kids and adults alike to get out and celebrate this year’s Disney themed Happiest Homecoming on Earth.

Also featured is the launch of the Jukebox International Film Festival at the community center, a jazz quintet performance at Comma Courtyard and the 115th birthday celebration of Count Basie as part of the Jazz and Beyond music festival. Wreath ceremony for fallen Carson City law officers among events Thursday around town

Among events for the day, there will be a wreath remembrance ceremony for fallen Carson City law enforcement officers at the sheriff's office, a Muscle Powered morning hike, art showings, and a meeting of the Status of Women in Nevada group at the Carson Nugget. As part of the Jazz and Beyond music festival, there will be an outdoor "Woodstock Remembered" concert at Comma Coffee and a music presentation, "All About that Bass" by Scot Marshall and Friends at the Nevada State Museum.

Come to Carson High School on Saturday, August 17 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and support the Carson High School Girls and Boys Soccer Program. Pre-sale is $5 a vehicle. At the car wash, it is $7 to $10 depending on the size of the vehicle. Carson High School is located at 1111 N. Saliman Road.

Even more amazing than the dances are the students behind the scenes who, with the guidance of Leadership Adviser Ann Britt and FBLA Adviser Angila Golik, transformed the CHS Big Gym so that all visitors, young and old alike, would think they had walked into a beautiful dream.
Gilson Going Solo at PLNU Chamber Orchestra Concerto Concert

Such is not a new experience for 2018 Sierra Lutheran High School alumna Aleyna Gilson, who will find the spotlight on her again at the end of this month when she performs Mendelssohn’s concerto in E minor at the Orchestra Concerto Concert at Point Loma Nazarene University, in San Diego.
