In its 34th year of honoring the nation’s best high school athletes, The Gatorade Company has announced Jared Marchegger of Sierra Lutheran High School as its 2018-19 Gatorade Nevada Boys Cross Country Runner of the Year.

Marchegger is the second Gatorade Nevada Boys Cross Country Runner of the Year to be chosen from Sierra Lutheran High School.

Douglas High School’s athletic department received a pair of orange-clad Automatic External Defibrillator devices from Carson Valley Medical Center Tuesday afternoon.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and this time every year touches the heart of one of the teachers at CHS: Art teacher Mike Malley, whose mother is a breast cancer survivor, due to early detection, has decided to take breast cancer awareness to a new level by putting on a fundraising event Oct. 18 at the Trimmer Barn from 5 to 8 p.m.

Carson High School Boy’s Soccer teams defeated Damonte Ranch High School in the away games on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2018. The Varsity Boys Soccer team won 4-0 with three goals scored by junior Jose Godinez and one goal scored by sophomore Omar Mora.

Carson High School Boys Varsity Soccer team defeated Bishop Manogue High School 2-0 at home on Wednesday, September 26, 2018. Goals were scored by Ricky Gonzalez and Omar Mora. The Boys JV team also defeated Manogue’s JV team 8-2 on Wednesday.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Nevada’s annual Luau raised 18 percent of the Club’s annual operating budget for the year, the highest amount in the event’s 25-year history. A 45-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday in the area of Paul Way for suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, a sheriff’s deputy said.

This past Saturday night, the Western Nevada FC Coyotes climbed to the top of the Wild West Conference and into the national top 20 rankings with the 4-1 home victory over Napa Sporting SC.

Western Nevada FC Coyotes of Carson City return home this weekend for their battle for first place in the league. WNFC will host Napa Sporting SC for a 5 p.m. kick off at Moana Springs Recreational Complex.

The Western Nevada FC Coyotes travel to Oregon this weekend to take on a Wild West Conference foe. Southern Oregon Starphire FC enter the game with a 1-1-2 record standing with 4 points in the league. Western Nevada FC Coyotes after the huge win last weekend stand 3-0 with 9 points.

During a chilly Saturday evening at Golden Eagle Regional Park the Western Nevada FC Coyotes earned 3 points with a win over California Victory FC. The match marked the Home Opener for the team who are now 1-0 at home and have a 2-0 record on the road during their league play in the Wild West.

April is a beautiful and busy month for CHS as the high school put on The Friendship Ball on April 5, Under the Sea Father Daughter Ball on April 6, and Prom on April 7.

The Western Nevada FC Coyotes have their home opener this Saturday night against California Victory FC. The match is set to kick off at 8:30 pm at Golden Regional Park. Being it is the Home Opener, we will be having a fan appreciation night.

While there are 11 players on the pitch at any one time, fans are the most important member of our team.

Spring AYSO Soccer registration is open to all Carson City children born between Jan. 1 2010 and May 1, 2015. Children must be 3 years old before the first day of soccer.
