South Carson Street project design finished, bidding process to begin

The South Carson Street project design is complete. The project team is pleased to announce the completion of the project design after nearly a year of design progression since the initial public kick-off meeting on December 11, 2018. During the design phase, the project team has conducted over 20 public meetings to gather useful feedback on various project features.

Carson City emergency crews called to vehicle crash involving pedestrian on North Carson Street

UPDATE 9:46PM: The condition of the male pedestrian, approximately 29 years of age, is unknown at this time, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office sergeant. He was taken by ambulance to Renown Medical Center in Reno. The driver in the accident was not impaired, according to the sergeant. The Nevada Highway Patrol is assisting in the investigation.

UPDATE 8:56PM: The 60-year-old male pedestrian in Tuesday evening's accident was flown to Renown Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries, according to CCSO. The driver of the vehicle that struck him was cited for failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk. Drugs and alcohol are not suspected. NHP is investigating a separate incident, a hit and run crash, in which a vehicle struck a parked CCSO patrol vehicle and then fled the scene. The parked patrol vehicle was on the scene of the pedestrian crash.

The Carson City Sheriffs Office has received a grant in the amount of $38,000 from the Nevada Department of Public Safety, Office of Traffic Safety to support law enforcement’s participation in the Joining Forces traffic safety campaigns during the coming year.
