Dayton man jailed in connection to hit and run that killed pedestrian walking dogs
An arrest has been made after tips led to a suspect in the Thursday morning hit and run crash that killed a Dayton resident and five dogs, according to the Lyon County Sheriff's Office and the Nevada Highway Patrol.
James Parisi, a 39-year-old Dayton resident, has been arrested in connection to the crime, according to NHP.
The success of this investigation relied on a concerned community and the collaborative efforts between the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office and NHP, according to an NHP and Lyon County news release.
The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office and Nevada Highway Patrol investigated numerous tips which lead to the identification of the involved vehicle.
On Thursday, August 15, 2019, at approximately 6:52 a.m., NHP troopers were dispatched to assist Lyon County Sheriff’s Office deputies at Six Mile Canyon Road and Roughing It Road for a hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian and five dogs.
Preliminary investigation showed the driver of an unknown vehicle was traveling westbound on Six Mile Canyon Road. A pedestrian was walking eastbound with five dogs. The vehicle crossed over the center of the road and struck the pedestrian and five dogs.
The pedestrian, identified as Michael Kuntz, a 59-year-old Dayton resident, and five dogs were pronounced deceased.
