Nevada Humane Society is asking for your help in finding homes for 1,000 dogs and cats during the Home 4 the Holidays Pet Adoption Drive, from Nov. 23 through Dec. 31.

Good Day Carson City! Say hello to Carrot, our Pet of the Week this week! Carrot is an adorable two-year-old Australian Cattle Dog/Mix and she has been looking for her forever home since October. Look at that face! Take her home!


Happy Sunday, Carson City! But it's not the end of the weekend yet, at least not for some, thanks to Veteran's Day Weekend. Here are the events left for the rest of the weekend!

Three days. 32 cats. $0 to a good home. The Nevada Humane Society is wrapping up day two of a three-day free cat and kitten adoption event in hopes of rehoming every one of their furry felines. The clock stops on this free-for-all at 6 p.m on Sunday night.

Heading into the Veterans Day weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region over the next four days. Events include live comedy, art and heater, multiple holiday craft fairs around Carson City and Carson Valley as well as several Veterans Day ceremonies and offers of gratitude to vets and active duty members of the U.S. military on Monday. Are you looking for a cat? What a coincidence: we have about 400 cats here at our shelter who are looking for you! To help our cats find homes, we are waiving the adoption fees on all cats and kittens at the shelters in Carson City and Reno this Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 8-10.

Do you have a dog to dress up for Halloween this year? No? Well, you’re in luck! Because Hercules is currently at the Carson City Humane Society looking for a new home, and I think he’d really make a wonderful ghost, or maybe a bee!

More than 50 animal shelters and rescue groups participated in Nevada’s large free pet adoption event, Maddie’s Pet Adoption Days. It was organized by Maddie's Pet Project in Nevada, a three-year campaign aimed at helping more homeless cats and dogs find good homes and creating a safety net for pets by improving access to veterinary care in the Silver State.

Heading into the first day of October 2019, events around the capital city include a morning walk, evening hike and a bike ride with Muscle Powered, a historic talk about Frank Sinatra's gaming license at Lake Tahoe, a "Think Pink" breast cancer awareness event at Red's Old 395 Grill, a showing of the film classic "Charade" at the Brewery Arts Center and more.

Hello Carson City! Today we have a very special Pet of the Week, Rosie the Rooster.

Rosie is a young rooster who was very loved by his owner, but unfortunately, roosters are not allowed within Carson City's city limits, and Rosie was forced to be given up for adoption.

This friendly dog was found wandering late Thursday morning outside of the Carson City Sheriff's Office on Harbin and Musser streets. He is friendly, obedient, fairly young, may have some pit bull mix in him, with a brown and black coat, white chest and white feet.
If you know this dog, he is at the Nevada Humane Society, 549 Airport Rd, Carson City. Call (775) 887-2171.

According to multiple Carson City residents, a bear was spotted on Tuesday evening near the 5th Street overpass.

Good day Carson City, say hello Filmore, our Carson City Pet of the Week!

Filmore is a 3-year-old German Shepherd Mix and he is currently looking for a place for him and his handsome smile to call home! Being a German Shepherd though, Filmore needs to go to a family that can keep him active and work off his handsome-boy energy!
