Carson City beat out not only the rest of the country, but 17 of the 18 top winners.

We are also the only west coast winner.

The grant gives $25,000 to each community in order to present their own Levitt AMP Music Series, ten free outdoor concerts featuring “high-caliber entertainment in a broad range of music genres.”

The future of the Carson City summer outdoor concert series through the Brewery Arts Center comes down to votes, and today, Tuesday is the deadline to make them count.

The Levitt AMP Carson City Summer Concert Series has slipped to 11th place as of Monday night, which has made for a last minute plea from the BAC brass to make a citywide call out to bring the concert series back for a fourth season.

The Levitt AMP Carson City Summer Concert Series is in jeopardy of not being funded for a fourth consecutive season, the Brewery Arts Center (BAC) has said, slipping to ninth place in online voting.

The Brewery Arts Center is now in the running to bring a 10 week live music series to Carson City during the summer of 2019.

It's parade day in Carson City, which means a host of Nevada Day activities throughout the state capital all day long.

Of course, the 80th annual Nevada Day Parade is the centerpiece of the Silver State's 154th birthday celebration.

Nevada's celebration of statehood provides for a bevy of activities that showcase the Silver State's best. From contests to exhibits, food and beverages of all kinds, Native dancing, hot air balloons, concerts, a carnival celebration at Mills Park and the famed Nevada Day parade, there is something for everyone throughout the long weekend.

The Passing of the Baton

The Capital City Community Band will present its annual Nevada Day free concert at 2:00P.M. on Saturday, October 27th in the Capital Amphitheater.

The concert will feature variety of music from Dixieland to Marches to Patriotic songs. A special feature will be “Home Means Nevada” by Marine Band arranger Sgt. Scott Ninmer.

The arrangement will feature Doug Thunder, a forty-one-year member of the band, on Euphonium.

Hopefest8 at the Carson Tahoe Cancer Center is a free concert featuring folk/pop singer, Tyrone Wells, bringing awareness and raising funds for local patient resources. The grand prize of their raffle is a brand-new car, so good luck. It’s a birthday bash at Living the Good Life. Wish proprietress, Gina, many happy returns and groove to the sounds of the Trippin’ King Snakes.

Tahoe/Douglas Elks Lodge is sponsoring free concert by Re-Creation, the full performance singing and dancing group in Minden on Sunday September 16, 2018 at 2:00 PM at the CVIC Hall, 1604 Esmeralda Ave.

Re-Creation presents sparkling, energetic professional entertainment by eleven exciting young performers who offer dynamic vocal renditions of America's best-loved songs and enliven the stage with intricate, disciplined dance and choreography.

HopeFest8, an annual Carson Tahoe Health Foundation summer music concert fundraiser in support of local cancer patients, returns this Friday, Aug. 24 to Carson City.

We are running out of summer weekends. I know that’s hard to believe right now, but hoodies and everything pumpkin is just beyond the horizon. Grab summer with both hands and go enjoy this beautiful city. The Brewery Arts Center brings Dennis Johnson and the Mississippi Ramblers to the stage for tonight’s free concert. Check out the Railroad Museum for your fill of music and antique motor cars. Veterans Healing Camp cordially invites the community to the 2nd Annual Concert Under the Stars on Saturday, August 25 from 5 to 10 p.m. at the Veterans Healing Camp property located at 1775 East US Highway 50 in Silver Springs.

Next Friday night, August 17, beginning at 6 p.m., the cool Carson City Community Center will be swinging as the hot USAF Band of the Golden West Commanders Jazz Ensemble performs tunes from some of the greatest swing bands of all times.

Let’s get August off to a good start. The first Saturday of the month always plays host to the Downtown Carson City Wine Walk, but with the Jazz and Beyond Musical Festival in full swing, you’ll have even more reasons to meander around downtown. The afternoon ice cream social at the historic Foreman-Roberts House is a perfect family-friendly treat before heading to the Brewery Arts Center for tonight’s free concert. Keep reading, you’ll find a little bit of something for everyone in the Carson City, Carson Valley, Dayton and Virginia City areas.

Get ready for all things shiny, whether it be brass or chrome. You’ll find plenty of horns playing during the Jazz and Beyond Music Festival that kicks off today. Performances by local musicians Miles Davis Ricketts of Nancy Plays Nurse as well as singer-songwriter Candice Fleming.

On Friday, Aileen Quinn, "Hollywood's Original Annie" will be appearing at the screening of the 1982 classic "Annie," and on Saturday she will perform a free show at the Brewery Arts Center in Carson City with her Rockabilly band Aileen Quinn and the Leapin' Lizards in a free, family-friendly outdoor concert.

I have long found it impossible to decide which Carson City event is my favorite: forever waffling between Nevada Day and the Taste of Downtown. Seeing as the annual parade is still months away, I’m going to side with ‘The Taste’ purely for its timeliness. With over forty local eateries participating, multiple raffles at downtown shops, and seven bands rocking every corner of the event, it’s practically impossible to have a bad time. This might be the biggest happening in town, but it’s by no means the only good time: read on for all this weekend’s options.

There is more hot and smoky in store for the day, including a very real threat of thunderstorms. You may want to stick to indoor activities when the air quality is low like this. The Capital City Community Band has a free concert and ice cream social scheduled for this afternoon at the First United Methodist Church. All are welcome, and it’s hard to argue with ice cream on a day like this. If you are looking to start your own business, but still some legal guidance, you’ll find the ‘Lunch-n-Learn’ workshop at the Adams Hub extremely helpful.

Summer fun is heating up! Let the kids burn off some energy at the Kids Triathlon at Mills Park. You’ll find all the colors of the rainbow, plus great music and fun times, at the Festival of Unity and Community: Sassabration. Get your grub on at the annual Nevada Honor Flight Chili Cook-off at Glen Eagles, and make sure to check out the craft vendors. FRIDAY, July 6: Things to do in Carson City

Jammin’ music and electric vibes brought hundreds to the Brewery Arts Center for opening night of the Levitt AMP Carson City free summer concert series Saturday, now in its third year.

Bring a lawn chair, a picnic and enjoy an evening in the Silver City Park with a blues, funk and classic rock concert by Mylo McCormick on Sunday, July 29 from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

It’s Navy Week in Carson City, and that means you’ll have a handful of opportunities to catch performances by various US Navy bands over the next few days. Enjoy their woodwind quintet this afternoon in the Dema Guinn Concourse of the Nevada State Museum. This evening find the US Navy Brass Band in McFadden Plaza performing alongside the talented kids who participated in the Mile High Jazz Camp.

Carson City again welcomes the Fathers’ Day PowWow to the Stewart Indian School Campus for a weekend of dancing, vendors and crafts, and community. Now, when I say bicycle invasion, I’m not exaggerating. The Carson City Off-Road hosted by Epic Rides brings mountain bike enthusiasts from all over to compete in our hills. You’ll find downtown road-closures to make way for the race routes, a bike expo, beer garden, and a music festival on Saturday. Head up to Western Nevada College to welcome the Journey of Hope Bike Tour.

The Brewery Arts Center in Carson City is preparing for the third year of the Levitt AMP Carson City free summer concert series.
