Last year, the Director of the Nevada State Museum, Dr. Josh Bonde, his wife Becky Hall, Director of the Children’s Museum of Northern Nevada, and their two daughters Nola Belle and Kiera were involved in an accident. All were seriously injured in the accident and Nola Belle lost her life.

The Children’s Museum of Northern Nevada is kicking off its first of several fundraisers. Like many other businesses the Children’s Museum is also struggling to make ends meet. Operating costs such as rent and utilities make it impossible for a nonprofit whose main funding source has been cut by 75% to make ends meet.

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region. The annual Silver and Snowflakes Festival of Lights holiday celebration goes virtual on Friday. Santa Claus will arrive virtually at the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada and in-person at Battle Born Harley Davidson on Saturday for pictures with families and kids of all ages. The Children’s Museum of Northern Nevada in Carson City is celebrating a Santa visit on Saturday, Dec. 5 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. We are having Santa, via Zoom, into the Children’s Museum so that each child can talk and see Santa!

Heading into the final weekend of October, Halloween and Nevada Day events will keep revelers busy through Sunday making for a jam packed weekend of fun for families and grownups around the Carson City region.

Celebrating Halloween in Carson City is really unlike any other place because the holiday sometimes lands on the same day as many Nevada Day festivities are underway. To have a more organized and safe Halloween for children, Carson City will again host its "BOOnanza" celebration this Thursday, and the Children's Museum will host a safe trick or treating event Friday.

The Children's Museum of Northern Nevada and Redemption Church Carson City will be hosting the Museum's annual Safe Trick-or-Treat event. The entire Museum gets a spooky twist to it and kids are able to go to each exhibit and trick-or-treat! This year the Museum has worked tirelessly to make the event safe due to Covid-19.

The Children's Museum of Northern Nevada in Carson City is facing a possible closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic and a shortfall of funding. The Museum is now open and ready to serve all the families from this lovely region, and there are numerous ways the community can help.

Nevada Humanities is pleased to announce the awards for Nevada Humanities CARES: Emergency Relief Grants for Nevada Humanities and Cultural Organizations. Forty-six cultural and humanities organizations across Nevada received $368,873 in federal CARES Act grants.

The Nevada Families First program presents a day of fun at the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada. We will start our visit with story time followed by an art activity, then work our way through the museum and play with your child/children. We have reserved an hour and a half for our group connection, but you are welcome to stay longer.

Heading into Monday, Presidents' Day, we're looking at sunny skies and a high near 55. Being a federal holiday, local, state and federal offices are closed, as are schools and banks. Activities include a meeting of Carson City AGLOW International at the Children's Museum, a campaign rally featuring presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg, a meeting of the Carson City Democrats focusing on Saturday's Nevada caucus, fitness events, West Coast swing dance lessons at Carson Lanes and more.

Heading into the last weekend of January there’s a mountain of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days. Events include a Chinese New Year Celebration at the Nevada State Museum and the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada. The Carson Comedy Club hosts its first Military Appreciation Night on Friday at the Carson Nugget. While it isn't quite Christmas-weather yet, I'm assuming at some point it will get cold and we can finally get into the upcoming holiday spirit! When that time comes, there are a ton of great Santa-related events going on in Carson City for you and the little ones to enjoy.

On Saturday afternoon from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada partnered with the Washiw Tribe to bring the first annual Indigenous Peoples' Heritage Day, which was free to the community.

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days. Events include Polar Express train rides, Touched By Angels hosts a garden craft show on Saturday, a night photo shoot at the Nevada State museum, Rob Sherwood headlines the Carson Comedy Club at the Carson Nugget, 'Matilda the Musical' and more!

The Carson City Children's Museum will be partnering with the Washoe Tribe to bring crafts, performances, play and education to the community during the first annual Indigenous Peoples' Heritage Day.

Participants can come in from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. on November 16th, 2019 to enjoy all that the museum and this event has to offer.

The entire day will have free admission thanks to the event's sponsors and Silver State Government Relations.

Good day Carson City, we hope you are enjoying your Nevada Day weekend. It is Sunday, Oct. 27, 2019. Events around the capital city area include a post Nevada Day Trash Mob cleanup, a morning bike ride, Pow Wow activities at the MAC, the RSVP carnival at Mills Park as well as as tours of the Wungnema House, also in the park, Thomas the Train activities Virginia City and more. It will be a much cooler day weather wise, so dress warm. Enjoy.

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of events around the Carson City region Friday through Sunday to celebrate Nevada Day. Activities include the annual parade down Carson Street, a carnival at Mills Park, the 30th annual Nevada Day Classic, The La Ka Lel Be Pow Wow at the MAC, beard and rock drilling contests, delicious food dishes, pancakes, chili and plenty of beverages to suit kids and adults of all ages.

The Children's Museum of Northern Nevada will be closed from September 30th through October 13th and will re-open on October 14th. The facility is getting a front of the museum upgrade with new pavers, picnic tables, and benches.

Heading into Labor Day weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region over the next four days, which include guided tours at the Nevada State Museum, movie showings at Mills and Schulz Ranch Park, a school supply car cruise and Bingo fundraiser at the Carson Mall, trash pickup at Lake Tahoe, a Rolling Stones tribute band at Carson Nugget, Virginia City’s Labor Day Parade and more!

The Children's Museum's NEA, Nevada Arts Council funded Story Time program returns Sept 6, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. The program will normally be scheduled on Fridays and will be presented by Jennifer Ringwood Anderson. Ms. Anderson is a gifted and passionate story teller and Montessori specialist having taught at High Desert Montessori, Carson Montessori, and the Brendon Montessori School in Billings, New York.
