Empty Bowls Project of Carson City - Make a Bowl Event

Local artists, young and old are donating handmade bowls for a fund raising event that will be held during the Capital Tree Lighting ceremony on December 6th, 2013.

Restaurants are providing the soup and bread that will fill our Empty Bowls. For a minimum donation of $10, you may select one of the bowls and enjoy a warm winter meal to launch the holiday season. The artisan bowl is yours to keep as a reminder that there are empty bowls in our community. There will also be an art auction at the event!

Street Vibrations, Carson City - Take it to the Streets of Downtown for a full day of Bikes, Food, & Fun - Saturday Sept 28th

In the heart of downtown Carson City, right next to the HorseShoe Club Casino, CC Street Vibrations will be rocking with an all day show & shine, beginning with a pancake breakfast, kids obstacle course and games, with an assortment of vendors to enjoy. Then, continues with demonstrations, ride and show, with live entertainment and music, VIP poker run and lunch stop, CCSO bike games, brews, BBQ, Carson Victory Rollers and finishing in the evening with a street dance.

Children's Museum to hold Sept. 28 grand opening of Science Room

The highly anticipated STEM Lab Science Room at the Children's Museum in Carson City will be unveiled at a grand opening on Saturday, Sept. 28. There will be a kick-off pancake breakfast sponsored by the Kiwanis of the Sierra Nevada from 8 to 11 a.m. Everyone is encouraged to come by 813 N. Carson St. and check it out.

Children's Museum of Northern Nevada to host its own September Street Vibrations

Children's Museum holds 'princess' and 'super hero' training Saturday

Sign up now for the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada's own "Princess in Training" and "Super Hero in Training" sessions. The event will be held this Saturday, Aug. 17.

Princess Training will be from 10:30am to 12noon
Super Hero Training will be from 1:00pm to 2:30pm.

The cost is $25 per child and is for children ages 3-plus. Costumes are not provided but are encouraged.

Carson City Horseshoe Club celebrates 40th anniversary

The Carson HorseShoe is celebrating 40 years by bringing back some old favorites and starting some new ones.

This August 3 the family-owned and operated HorseShoe Club Casino located in Downtown Carson City, is celebrating their 40th anniversary.

The casino was once owned by Gene Chaney who has since passed away. It is now owned and operated by his five children. Carson City resident Jeannette Chaney Kelley has been the Casino's President for 16 years and her brother Jeff Chaney is the Casino's General Manager.

Children's Museum's annual garage sale today

Today, Saturday, is the annual Children's Museum of Northern Nevada garage sale fundraiser, which runs from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Find everything you've been looking for at a bargain and help keep the programs at the museum thriving.

Downtown Business Association spruces Carson City with tree campaign

The Carson City Downtown Business Association was recognized by Carson City Parks and Recreation for its donation of 17 new trees recently planted around town.

Donations sought for Children's Museum annual garage sale fundraiser

Is the stuff collecting in the garage too valuable to be thrown out? The Children's Museum of Northern Nevada will gladly take those household goods, furniture and furnishings off your hands. The Museum will hold its annual fundraising garage sale July 27 in Carson City and is looking for donated items.

Donations are being accepted now and can be dropped off from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily at 813 North Carson Street. If you have items that need picked up call (775) 884-2226.

Carson Chamber Home and Garden Show comes to Carson Mall on Saturday

This is the second year the Carson City Chamber of Commerce has organized a Home & Garden Show to showcase the many businesses that can help homeowners improve their homes and gardens.

This Saturday, April 20th, Greenhouse Garden Center will again take center stage showcasing their expertise and creativeness in creating a unique garden setting that only the professionals at Greenhouse can create. Owner David Ruf and staff will be on hand to conduct informative seminars as well.

Carson City Emblem Club hosts March 16 St. Patrick's Day Dinner

Carson City shows its holiday best at Snowflake Festival of Lights

Being the capital city of Nevada, Carson City once again shines brighter and bucks the rest, turning the lights on Friday to not one but two Christmas trees during the kick-off of the two-day Snowflake Festival of Lights.

Perched on the State Capital steps, some 300 voices of the Carson City 5th Grade Singing Ensemble sang Christmas carols to a crowd of hundreds (if not thousands) of parents, siblings, dignitaries, retirees, state workers and locals who swelled onto Carson Street in good measure.

Holiday cheer at two-day Carson City Silver and Snowflake Festival of Lights

Carson City's annual Silver and Snowflake Festival of Lights has become so well received over the years that the 2012 festival will now run for two days. The enhanced event is tonight, Friday, Dec. 7, from 5:30-8:00 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 8, from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Ice skating continues until 10 p.m.

Tonight's night's festivities begin on the capitol grounds with the state tree, a bristlecone pine, and downtown Carson City being lit along with a procession including Santa, Mrs. Claus and the 300 voices of the Carson City 5th Grade Music Students Singing Ensemble.

Santa, Holiday Craft Sale and Musical Theater at The Children's Museum

On Saturday, December 15th the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada in Carson City is hosting several holiday events.  From 10am-4pm the museum will have its first annual Holiday Craft Sale.  They will be featuring Carson City Pottery which is housed in the museum.  Staff and students will be giving demonstrations and selling work for last minute holiday purchases.  In addition, the museum gift shop will be having a one day only sale, 20% off for members and 10% off for non-members.  Admission to the sales are free.  Limited vender space still available.  Contact Mary Ann at 884-2226

African Night at the Children's Museum

Nevada Day events continue Sunday at Mills Park and Legislative Mall with free concert

Nevada Day festivities continue in Carson City through Sunday, today, with the RSVP Carnival and the Battle Born Celebration at Mills Park, a free symphony concert at the Legislative Mall and Halloween festivities.
The salute to America's military "past, present and future" is the theme of this year's statehood events. Featured at the park is the traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall, living history re-enactments, tributes and military honors and static displays. Go here for more information.
