Carson City Sheriff’s Motor Unit raises $500 for Catmandu shelter from recent competition
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Wed, 07/06/2016 - 12:30pmThe Carson City Sheriff’s Office Motor Unit, which adopted the feline shelter Catmandu as the nonprofit organization it would help through the sale of t-shirts at last month's Extreme Motor Officer Training Challenge, presented a $500 check Wednesday to the organization.
“We’re really grateful for all you’ve done for us,” said Linda Buchanan, founder of the nonprofit Catmandu, which has been struggling financially this year to keep its doors open.

Motor Officer Challenge returns with action packed events Friday and Saturday at Mills Park

The event runs Thursday through Saturday at Mills Park with Thursday a practice day for the competitors. The big events that bring the most spectators and participants will be on Friday and Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and feature music, vendors, food, demonstrations and contests.

The Motor Unit will be raising funds through t-shirt sales and donations at the event scheduled for June 24-25 at Mills Park.

We re-open on Wednesday, March 16th and will resume our normal hours of operation which are: Wednesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
We want to thank the Carson City community for your continued support and ask you to please come visit our kitties at the center on or after March 16th.

Orphaned Kittens at Catmandu Need Your Help

After burying the remains, he climbed back on his tractor to resume plowing. A small movement by the wheel caught his eye. Looking down, he saw two tiny kittens lying in the dirt. They were cold, hungry and frightened.

This is our bi-annual closure for deep cleaning, reorganizing and winterizing. We will be working on these special projects 10/8, 10/9 and 10/10 from 11-4. Please come by and lend a hand if you can. Every helping hand makes a difference!
We will re-open on Wednesday, October 14th at 11 a.m. We currently have an abundance of adorable kittens as well as lovely adult cats waiting to meet you. If you are looking for a furry friend please consider adopting a homeless cat or kitten. They make wonderful forever friends!

Catmandu Needs Foster Homes for Kittens

We have several different litters of kittens that need a safe and loving place to go for a few weeks. While a few require minor medical care (cleaning goopy eyes and applying eye ointment; occasional diarrhea), most just need a place to stay until they are old enough to adopt. A bedroom, large bathroom, or similar-sized room is ideal.
Abandoned by a Dumpster, kittens brought to Catmandu

Alerted by tiny meows of distress, she found four tiny kitties stuffed inside an old box next to her apartment dumpster. Although she had never owned a cat, she has a kind heart. So Vicky took them home, fed and cared for them as best as she could, then contacted Catmandu.

Take a ride on the McKeen Motor Car at the Nevada State Railroad Museum or the Ferris Wheel at RSVP’s Spring Fair and Carnival. A Harmonica and Strings Concert at Empire Elementary School showcases what some of our talented students can do. Get up early and head over to the Carson City Airport if your youngster has any interest in planes: Young Eagles flights are happening today if the weather permits.

Kittens Need Your Help!

With new kittens comes the need for more volunteers. We need foster homes desperately, both now and throughout the summer. Some of the arrivals are mamas with babies, others are orphans. Some will need to be bottle fed. Others are eating solid food, but need the one-on-one attention and loving touch that only a foster home can provide.
