Catmandu buys Carson City facility

After 4 years of providing a cage-free shelter, adoptions, spay and neuter and rescue services for northern Nevada’s cats and kittens, we are now a permanent part of Carson City and the surrounding communities.

Breakfast with Santa at the Fox Brewpub serves as a toy drive for area kids and as no-fuss way to get start the day with a full belly. Read on for a weekend full of holiday happenings.

I strive to make sure that my things-to-do lists reflect the many options available to you. Today, for example, you’ll find a fundraiser for Catmandu, the monthly meeting of the fly fishing club, some country line dancing, jazz and poetry, and a walk along the historic Blue Line Trail. No two Tuesdays are alike (or Wednesdays or Thursdays, for that matter), so it’s always worth checking out. Now that we are moving into autumn, the activities in Carson City change like the leaves.

A bowling tournament and the Comstock Shootout Soccer tournament have the hotels and motels busting at the seams. Celebrate Earth Day with Muscle Powered by making a small piece of Carson City that much cleaner; the trash meets at 8 a.m. and leaves you plenty of time to enjoy the day. You can Wine Walk until you Holiday Crawl downtown. Take your pick of craft shows in town. Kids won’t want to miss the Santa Train at the State Railroad Museum or one of the two performances of ‘The Peanutcracker’ at the Community Center. Whether you’d like to spend the days indoors or out, there is something for all ages in the Carson City area this weekend.

Catmandu is partnering with Honda to help disadvantaged cats and kittens find their FURever homes. Catmandu is a Carson City non-profit cat and kitten rescue that provides a homey, cage-free environment to help them feel safe.
The organization teaches the felines to love and trust people again with hopes of finding the right people to adopt them. Catmandu receives no government funding, relying solely on volunteers and the local community for donations.

Dogs run, walk for cats at CASI 5K9

But that's exactly what happened Sunday morning at Riverview Park off East Fifth Street in Carson City when dozens of canines and their humans participated in CASI's annual 5K9 Run/Walk.
