Afterwards, head across the street to Browser’s Corner Book Store to take advantage of their half-off sale. Good luck to all the kids trying out for Wild Horse Children’s Theaters next performance. We all know that when a bell rings an angel gets its wings, thanks to Christmas classic ‘It’s a Wonderful Life.’ Head down to the Brewery Arts Center for a free viewing and share the movie with your friends, family, and community. The Youth Theater Carson City Showstoppers are one talented bunch and their performance of ‘Yes Virginia: The Musical’ is sure to be a hit with young and old alike.

Ready to break a world record, Carson City? High school senior, Taylor Weddell is organizing an attempt at the World’s Largest Human Christmas Tree for her senior project. Grab everyone you know and head to Carson High at 10 a.m. Bundle up, and get ready for a good time. Hot beverages will be available to help keep you warm.

Ready for more snow? Let’s just hope that the clouds clear by tonight because the Geminids Meteor Shower is at its peak tonight and tomorrow. Don your ugliest sweater for the Carson Victory Rollers’ Red and Green Scrimmage, and bring a toy for their Toys for Tots drive. If you haven’t caught Wild Horse Children’s Theaters production of Babes in Toyland yet, grab the kids and get down to the Brewery Arts Center for their final performance.

The clock is ticking for last minute shoppers. Luckily, Carson City has great options for everyone on the list. Telegraph Square in downtown will be hopping with a Santa parade, vendors, and a pirate ship, in addition to great shops. The Brewery Arts Center is hosting a weekend-long art sale with one of a kind options throughout the campus. Art is a great gift, and making it is even more fun. Carson City Pottery is holding an open house today; a gift certificate for a pottery class is perfect for all skill levels.

My snow dance worked! The weather should start clearing up for the next few days, so the roads should be clear. There’s no need to leave our valley though, great things are happening. The annual Share Your Christmas food drive goes on for most of the day: you don’t even need to leave your car, just drive up to the Governor’s Mansion, and someone will get your donation to the right place. Unwind, decompress and relax at a number of our great bars and restaurants.

Happy Sunday. There’s still plenty of weekend left. Craft fairs at Carson Lanes and the Carson Colony are sure to have something for that hard to buy for person on your list. Fight the chill with chili at the Carson Bulldog Wrestling Club’s Chili Cook-off at Yogurt Beach. Sing some holiday songs at the Holiday Karaoke Sing-along Party at the Carson City Library. Dayton lights up its tree tonight at ‘Our Park,’ so dress in your ugliest sweater and enjoy some hot chocolate and cookies at their ‘Small Town Christmas’ celebration.

Have you been naughty or nice this year? You’ll have no problem finding Jolly Old St. Nick this weekend. At Debug Computers where, in exchange for a donation to Holiday with a Hero, you can get a photo with the man in red. The Santa Train at the Nevada State Railroad Museum is a good place to grab a candy cane, some hot cocoa, and tell him what you’d like to find under the tree. Photographs with Santa are available at the Carson Mall Wednesday through Sunday. Genoa’s annual Breakfast with Santa has three seatings beginning at 8:30 a.m.

Our downtown makes every season special: flower baskets in the summer, daffodils in springtime, the changing leaves of autumn, and winter means the Nevada Christmas tree at the Capitol. Enjoy carolers, hot cocoa, and more in Telegraph Square during the Christmas Faire. Don’t miss the talented members of Wild Horse Children’s Theater: they’ll be singing at 4 p.m.

Sierra Nevada Forums, Partnership Carson City and Nevada Juvenile Justice will host a lecture Thursday in Carson City on the brain/body connection by a consultant for the Navy SEALS and the International Olympic Committee.

John Underwood, director and founder of Pure Performance, is the Human Performance Consultant for the U.S. Navy SEALS, and presented at numerous military bases.

UPDATE: The Light after Dark Walk/Run scheduled at Riverview Park in Carson City tonight has been canceled due to the dangerous conditions of the track from the bad weather. The RAM Clinic begins today. It’s first come first served, so you’ll be in line a while if you’d like to be seen; bring something to snack on and entertain yourself with. Downtown will be the place to be tonight. Notch 8 will be making their first appearance in several months with a show at Westside Pour House. Carson Cigar is still celebrating its 20th birthday, so enjoy live music with Bread and Butter tonight. Comma Coffee will be filled with fun and laughter. The annual Tickled Pink World Dance Open Floor is including a lip sync contest for the first time, so it should be a good time had by all.

I truly apologize that it is without my usual links or banter, but my little tablet can only do so much. The Dog Days of Summer have hit town, so grab your favorite four-legged friend and have fun. CASI is hosting the ‘pooch plunge’ at the Carson Aquatic Center so that your pooches can beat this late September heat. Join the Nevada Humane Society at Lake Tahoe Brewing Company for the first annual ‘Brew-paw.’ Adoptable pets, a raffle, and more await. Don’t miss out on the downtown walk Sunday following coffee and mimosas at Adele’s. The ‘wag-n-walk’ will end up at the Visitor’s Center where you will be rewarded with a special pet tag.

Ready, set, GO! Whether you want to watch camels race, or hot air balloons light up the sky, this is a great weekend in Northern Nevada. If cool cars are more your style, join the Freaks of Nature Car Club at a show and shine in the parking lot of Yogurt Beach in North Carson. It’s root, root, root for the home team as the WNC Wildcats play a double header at Harvey Field.

Earl Dutton presents the 2nd annual musical fundraiser for Alzheimer's research this Saturday. Starring are CW and Dr. Spitmore, and Hill Country West band. There will be great music, raffles,and more! The fun begins Sept. 12 at 7pm in the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall at 449 W. King in Carson City.

Many of us will never forget where we were when we first heard about the hijacking and subsequent attacks on the World Trade Center. September 11, 2001 is burned into our collective memory. At 8:30 a.m. this morning there will be a memorial service at the 9/11 Memorial in Mills Park where an I-beam from the fallen towers now serves as a reminder. Even if you cannot make it to the ceremony, please take a moment of silence to remember.

The Carson City Sheriff's Office young Explorers will host a fundraising car wash; The Marine Corp League can be found at the north Carson Walmart; half of the donations received will go to Deputy Howell’s family fund. And don’t miss out on the drought-friendly water balloon ice bucket challenge raising funds for ALS at Butler Meats on Sunday.

Planes, trains, and automobiles await! The Nevada State Railroad Museum features rides on the McKeen Motor Car this weekend. Don’t miss out on a trip to Virginia City via the Virginia and Truckee Steam Train: locals get a discount on Sundays when they book online. Ormsby Post Acute Care is hosting a classic car show for their residents, so if you have an automobile that fits the bill, please head on over. The Minden-Tahoe Airport is the home to Aviation Roundup Air Show this weekend. You won’t want to miss the USAF Thunderbird Flight Team. Also on some fierce wheels this Sunday are the Carson Victory Rollers. Our roller derby team is hosting a scrimmage and collecting donations of school supplies at the Community Center.

Hold on to your hats, Carson City, summer isn’t ready to quit us just yet. An aviation air show at the Minden Airport, the coin show and fair at the Nevada State Museum, and a fishing derby for the kids at Little Washoe Lake are only the tip of the iceberg. The Pavilion at Mills Park is where you’ll find the annual Carson High Football Boosters Fundraising BBQ. The Quicksilver Dog Agility Trials are always fun to watch, and they’ll be at Fuji Park all weekend. Carson Lanes has family fun indoors and out all day long during their Bowling Blast-off.
