Carson High Holiday Craft Fair and Canned Food Drive set for Nov. 22

Admission on Friday is $2.00 and Saturday is $1.50 or $1.00 with a canned food item. All canned food items will be donated to Advocates to End Domestic Violence.

National Night Out, film classic at BAC, fitness events and more Tuesday around Carson City

This is an event like no other, where agencies who work in areas of public health and safety gather at Mills Park to meet with Carson City residents. This event features 3 hours of information booths, games, demonstrations, food and fun. Also happening Tuesday is a free robotics mini-camp for kids in nearby Silver City, Reciprocity Inc. will host a fundraiser at Rustically Divine, there's the Culinary Traveler’s Club's Polynesian Paradise featured at Bleu Café; the Carson City Classic Cinema Club will feature a Sci-Fi favorite at the BAC, plus fitness outings and more. National Night Out is back this Tuesday at Mills Park in Carson City

National Night Out is a way for residents to meet those who serve and protect our community as well as agencies that provide services, especially in areas of public health and safety. Agencies such as Search and Rescue, Health and Human Services, Care Flight, Advocates to End Domestic Violence, Carson City Sheriff’s Office, Carson City Fire Department, Nevada Highway Patrol, Department of Wildlife, agency advocates and dozens more.

Wednesday's Denim Day recognized during Sexual Assault Awareness and Child Abuse Prevention Month

For 20 years, the organization Peace Over Violence has organized Denim Day, a rape prevention education campaign, during which community members, elected officials, businesses, and students are encouraged to make a social statement with their fashion choices on this day by wearing jeans as a visible means of protest against misconceptions that surround sexual assault.

Sheriff's Office approved to apply for grant to fund victim's advocate for Carson City

The Carson City Board of Supervisor’s approved the application during their Thursday meeting.

Pinwheels for Prevention cover Carson City Legislature, raising awareness to prevent child abuse
Submitted by Kelsey Penrose on Fri, 04/05/2019 - 11:31amApril is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, and Carson City has gone blue with the Pinwheels for Prevention Campaign, a national event hosted by Carson City’s Advocates to End Domestic Violence, and Prevent Child Abuse Nevada.
On Friday, Carson City residents joined together to plant pinwheels across the Nevada Legislature's lawn, in an effort to raise awareness about preventing child abuse.
“The pinwheel is an uplifting reminder of childhood and the bright futures all children deserve,” a spokesperson for the national event said. “We want to reinforce the notion that healthy child development serves as a foundation for both community and economic development.”

Carson City teens learn to spot signs of abuse
