New Year's Day hike at Washoe Lake State Park on Jan. 1
Join park staff for a hike on Wednesday, Jan. 1 — the first day of 2019 — at Washoe Lake State Park, East Lake Blvd. in Washoe Valley, from 1-2:30 p.m.
Participants will hike through the sand dunes on the Dune Trek Trail. This hike is an easy three miles, but it does involve hiking through loose sand.
Meet at the Equestrian Area inside the park. This is a family-friendly event. Pets are welcome, but they must be kept on a leash at all times. Participants should wear hiking shoes and dress in layers for the weather.
Take Exit 44 from I-580 and drive north on East Lake Blvd. approximately four miles. The park entrance is on the left. Turn right past the fee booth, pass the campground, and follow the short gravel road to the pavilion.
Park entrance fee is waived for this event.
