Holiday with a Hero organizers plan downtown Holiday Crawl party with live music on two stages
Organizers say it will be a downtown holiday crawl and street party to remember; a community event designed for adults to benefit Carson City school children who may not otherwise have a nice Christmas this year.
Holiday with a Hero will host its second annual Holiday Crawl on Saturday, Dec. 3, from 5 to 10 p.m. in downtown Carson City. Check-in begins at 4 p.m., at Studio Adams Hub 177 W. Proctor St. with event beginning at 5 p.m. Participants must be 21 years of age. They will receive a souvenir cup and a free drink at check-in to kick off the evening.
Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Group tickets pricing is 12 tickets for $200. Holiday attire is encouraged. Go here for tickets.
The list of participating bars and bands will be released soon. At least two bands have committed on two stages, at McFadden Plaza and Telegraph Square. At least 20 restaurants and bars will be participating in the event.
Participating bars will be offering a specialty drink at a discounted price for Crawlers. Downtown restaurants and local food trucks will also provide lots of yummy options for the event.
All proceeds benefit the Holiday with a Hero program and Students in Transition in the Carson City School District.
Last year the inaugural downtown crawl had more than 400 participants. This year the goal is to make it bigger, and better with more stops and more food and drink options and two stages for live music, organizers say.
Sponsored by the Carson City School District, the Carson City Sheriffs Office and the Carson City Fire Department, Holiday With A Hero is a program that ensures underprivileged children in Carson City have a proper Christmas.
Donations are collected for 10 week and dispersed to designated and pre qualified students as Walmart gift cards. Local Fire, Police, Medical, and Military guide the students through the store to spend their money on gifts for them and their families.
Families with children enrolled in the Carson City School District can contact Peggy Sweetland at 775-283-1537. Donors can contact Daniel Gonzales at the Sheriff's Office 283-7888 or Peggy Sweetland, CCSD.
