Couple face child endangerment charges; infant exposed to marijuana smoke inside Carson City apartment

Carson City authorities arrested a couple on multiple charges, including child endangerment, domestic battery and unlawful posession and sale of prescription drugs.
Angela Rebecca Virginia Bowman, 19, of Mound House is being held on $7,500 bail and faces two felony drug charges including possession of prescription drugs without a prescription and possession for sale.
David Joseph Wright, 26, also of Mound House, faces a gross misdemeanor child endangerment charge and a domestic battery charge.
According to the arrest report, officers responded to the 3400 block of Airport Road at 11:30 p.m. Monday in reference to a domestic battery that was called into dispatch.
As officers arrived they heard women screaming and what sounded like items being thrown inside the apartment. Outside the apartment officers smelled wafts of marijuana smoke, according to the arrest report. Two women who live at the apartment opened the door and told the officer to remove Bowman, according to the arrest report.
Wright was also inside the apartment and the arresting officer asked both he and Bowman to step outside. The arresting officer noted in his report that a strong smell of marijuana was inside the apartment as well as the couple's three-month old infant being inside the room where there was a heavy odor.
Once outside, Bowman admitted that she punched Wright in the face because he grabbed her arm, according to the arrest report. Wright confirmed what Bowman told the officer, adding that it was he who grabbed her first by the arm. The occupants inside the apartment said that Bowman began throwing things, according to the arrest report.
The people interviewed inside the house admitted that pot had been smoked in the apartment in the presence of the baby. Wright admitted he smoked pot prior to law officers arriving but Bowman said she had not, the arrest report said. The couple admitted they were aware of exposing their baby to the environment of illegal drugs.
The officer then decided to arrest the couple on suspicion of child endangerment and domestic battery and asked if they had any drugs in their possession. Bowman said she had pills concealed in her chest area. She was advised of her Miranda Rights, which she agreed and understood and told the officer she found some blue pills that she thought were prescription Valium and that she was planning on selling the pills to make money. Five pills found inside plastic wrap were recovered and were identified as Diazepam.
— Those arrested are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
