Sassafras finds a new home at Carson Hot Springs Resort
The popular Sassafras restaurant, which was forced out of its downtown Carson City location earlier this year, will re-open soon at Carson Hot Springs Resort, according to the restaurant's owners.
"Following months of diligently searching for suitable sites, we are thrilled to come to an agreement with this distinctive resort and the destination location that we will provide for Carson City," said co-owners Anthony Fish and Jayme Watts in a news release. "It has been a pleasure to work with Sam Douglass at John Uhart Commercial Real Estate and Tom Peters Construction in this new endeavor."
The location "gives us many of the amenities that we deem important for our unique business model. We will be able to offer our full eclectic menu, premium and extraordinary ales, wines, and cocktails, custom catering services, creative and diverse entertainment and now, with the addition of a natural hot springs resort, we believe that we will be able to expand our ever-changing vision of Sassafras."
Sassafras intends to recognize the Carson Hot Springs Resort's rich and interesting history, and it welcomes any memorabilia or stories that will further this goal.
"Preserving the history of this location is very important to us and Carson City Holding Co LLC’s General Manager, Keith Shellhamer, is working in unison with us to provide food, drinks, and entertainment to the resort guests while we also welcome servicing the large number of city, state, industrial and professional offices in the area," the release states and continues below.
It is with the utmost appreciation, gratitude and respect that we bring to you our newest vision of Sassafras. The community fundraiser entitled "Save our Sass "(SOS) took place on August 9th, 2014. The sponsorship of all the community volunteers and entertainers that believed in our existence, and our purpose, has given us the financial and moral support to continue serving our community. Thank you for your determination and support. We look forward to serving you for many years to come.
Sincerely,
Anthony Fish, Jayme Watts and the entire Sassafras family
