Carson City weekend arrests include misdemeanor assault on officer, disorderly conduct

A 19-year-old Carson City man faces five misdemeanor charges including assaulting a police officer after he barricaded himself inside his father's bedroom, with the father asking officers to have his son removed.

The man was arrested at 9:20 p.m., Sept. 7 in the 900 block of Woodside Drive. According to arrest report, officers were in the area attempting to locate the man, a known gang member, following a fight earlier in which he fled from officers.

While looking for the suspect, officers met with the man's father who asked officers for help with his son who was inside the apartment and causing problems, the arrest report states. The father said he believed his son was under the influence of alcohol.

Officers also met with several others in the area, all stating they have been having problems with the young man during the past several days, however, they feared retaliation and would not provide on-the-record statements, the arrest report states.

The father of the man walked to the upstairs apartment door and unlocked it. He then discovered something was block the doorway and talked to his son while standing outside of the door. The man stated his son was inside and refused to come out. The father gave officers permission to enter the apartment from the rear slide door, the arrest report states.

Because the man had fled the scene of the fight earlier, he faced a charge of obstructing. Dispatch was contacted with the information and was asked to check with alternative sentencing, which then advised they would put a hold on the man for two counts of probation violation.

Deputies made entry into the apartment from the rear sliding door. The man was in the bedroom that was locked and had item pushed against the door to prevent anyone from coming inside, the arrest report states. Deputies talked to the man through the door, instructing him to open it, the arrest report states.

Officers then again met with the man's father to establish who the bedroom belonged to. The father stated the bedroom was his own (the father's) and not his son's. The father stated that he wanted his son out of the apartment and gave officers permission to enter.

Officers made contact with the man who subsequently unlocked the door, but then began to struggle with deputies on the bed, kicking his feet at them. The man was told to stop resisting, but he continued and kicked deputies in a violent way, the arrest report states. A deputy delivered a contact taser to the man, at which time he stopped and began to comply.

He was taken into custody and transported to jail where he was booked for misdemeanor charges of obstructing, assault on a police officer, resisting with violence, and two count of arrest of a probationer. The man was not under the influence of alcohol however he told officers that he would be "dirty" for drugs. Bail: $8,186.

— A Mound House woman as arrested and faces a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct following a bar fight in which she had her hair extensions pulled out. Officers responded to the bar in the 3400 block of Highway 50 on a report of a fight.

Officers arrived and observed the woman walking north in the parking lot. She had blood streaming down her face and smelled strongly of alcohol. The woman was asked how much alcohol she had consumed. She stated a single shot. She was asked if she had any other drinks and she stated no, the arrest report states. While paramedics were treating the woman for her injuries, officers spoke with several bar patrons, who advised the woman was involved in a fight inside the bar.

Officers asked the woman to describe the incident. She stated that she did not want to complete a statement nor would she identify any of the subjects she had been in the fight with, the arrest report states. Officers asked the woman how she planned on getting home. She stated she wanted to take a taxi. Officers requested a cab to respond to the bar. The woman was asked to sit on the curb and wait for the taxi to arrive, the arrest report states.

The woman stated that during the fight her hair extensions had been ripped out of her head. Officers observed several clumps of hair on the ground. The woman stated the hair belonged to her and said she wanted to collect her hair before she left. Officers observed the woman picking up hair and placing it in her purse, the arrest report states.

The woman then walked into the bar and the officer walked in the bar behind her. The officer observed the woman walk over toward an employee who was cleaning up the bar. The woman approached the employee and then the woman began to dig through the trash. The officer asked the woman what she what she was doing and the woman stated that she was looking for the rest of her hair, the arrest report states.

Officers asked the woman to go back outside and wait for the cab. The woman then charged the employee, yelling and screaming, knocking over the trash can and yelling at employees and patrons inside the bar. Officers again ordered the woman to leave the bar, but the woman continued yelling profanities and challenging bar staff and patrons to fight, the arrest report states.

She was placed into handcuffs and escorted out of the bar. The woman kicked and screamed from the bar to the patrol car. The woman was taken to Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center for a medical clearance prior to booking her into jail. At the hospital a preliminary breath test was administered in which the woman blew a .245. She faces a disorderly conduct charge. Bail: $242.

— A 28-year-old Carson City man faces three misdemeanor charges of contempt of court. Officers were called to the area of 1400 Long Street on Sept. 8, 9:38 a.m. following a domestic dispute. The woman told officers she was having a verbal dispute with her live-in boyfriend. The man also confirmed their argument had been verbal only, according to the arrest report.

Dispatch did advise the man had three confirmed warrants out of Reno Justice Court, all for contempt on traffic related charges. He was arrested based on those warrants. Bail: $3,966.

— A 52-year-old Carson City woman faces four misdemeanor charges including obstructing a police officer, possession of drug paraphernalia and two warrants. The woman was arrested in the 1800 block of North Carson Street on Sept. 7, 5:49 p.m.
The woman fit the description of a woman wanted on a warrant. She was observed going into a grocery store. During a search of her purse, officers found an eyeglass case with two "tooter" straws, used to ingest methamphetamine. Bail: $7,544.

— A 21-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sept. 7, 8:40 p.m. in the 1100 block of Woodside Drive. He faces a disorderly conduct charge.

Officers responded to the apartment for a report of a man yelling, cussing and banging on apartment doors. It was the third call for the man, the arrest report states, with him being contacted earlier for being a victim of battery, being intoxicated and yelling at cars passing by.

Officers made contact with the man who began yelling at them. He was placed into handcuffs where he continued to yell. Officers asked the man to face the back of the vehicle prior to placing him into the back seat. The man attempted to turn toward the officer and said "you can't control me." The officer ordered him to be quiet and placed him in the back of the patrol vehicle. People in the neighborhood did not want to complete statements as they feared the man was a gang member and might retaliate against them, the arrest report states. He was taken to jail. Bail: $242.

— A 21-year-old Gardnerville man was arrested Sept. 7, 8:05 p.m. in the 1800 block of North Edmonds on a warrant. Bail: $3,000.

— A 55-year-old Minden man was arrested Sept. 7, 1:24 p.m. and faces three misdemeanor charges including two failure to appear in court charges and driving with a revoked license. Bail: $1,651.

Those arrested and facing charges are innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.

On May 15th, 2024, shortly after midnight, deputies with the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence located on the 600 block of Angela Street in Fernley, Nev., reference a caller who reported that he had murdered his mother. The caller additionally provided that he barricaded himself inside the house, was armed with a rifle, and had planted pipe bombs at the residence.

On a sunny Saturday morning, 100 volunteer participants fanned out across Lake Tahoe’s South Shore to take water quality samples from 34 streams, creeks, ponds, and lakes to monitor the health of the Truckee River watershed and Lake Tahoe as part of the 24th annual Snapshot Day. They were joined by teams doing the same tests simultaneously in other regions of the watershed.

Just before noon on Tuesday a crash with injuries was reported on the I-580 on ramp from N. Carson Street.

According to dispatch there are two vehicles involved, one of which was towing a trailer.

Injuries have been reported and the number two lane is blocked.

Traffic cameras show vehicles are moving slowly but are able to get through to Washoe Valley.

Motorists must use caution in the area.
