Virginia City prepares for weekend's 56th annual International Camel and Ostrich Races
This weekend's 56th annual International Camel & Ostrich Races, presented by Dolan Auto Group, will christen the new Virginia City Arena and Fairgrounds, bringing new and improved seating options for attendees to experience this hilarious event up close. The event runs Friday through Sunday.
The Virginia City Arena and Fairgrounds is located three blocks south east of C Street on F Street just south of the V&T Train Depot. Follow event signage and traffic controllers for easy parking. Tickets can be purchased at VCCamelRaces.com.
Parking is available at the event for $5. Traffic controllers will be directing traffic throughout town and to the lots. Proceeds benefit the Virginia City Booster Club. Handicap parking is available at the lower parking lot next to the main ticket booth. Please show your pass to the parking attendant.
Additional parking throughout town is free. A shuttle is available with stops throughout town to take attendees to the event site. Parking within all areas is first come, first served. For a detailed parking and traffic map, visit online.
Seating is on a first come, first served basis within the area designated on each ticket. General admission tickets are assigned to bleacher seating and all ticketholders will have a seat. There is no need to bring your own chairs. Attendees are asked to be mindful of space and make room for others.
No outside food or drink is allowed inside the arena. Coolers or backpacks are not permitted. A larger vendor mall and beer garden are located within the event grounds for convenient food and drink options. Most vendors are cash only.
For the safety of others and the race animals, no pets are allowed in the arena and fairgrounds.
Bring sunblock. The arena is outdoors and there is little shade. Please refrain from bringing shade umbrellas as they block the view for others.
Strollers and wheelchairs are recommended only if absolutely necessary. The new arena and fairgrounds is on flat ground, making it easier for those with strollers and wheelchairs to attend. However, be mindful that the event is in the dirt and gravel and travel may still be slightly difficult.
Ticket prices are as follows:
Friday and Sunday - General Admission $15; In-Arena Seating $25; VIP $40
Saturday- General Admission $18; In-Arena Seating $30; VIP $50
Tickets are available for purchase online at VCCamelRaces.com, where detailed seating options and the venue layout are also available.
The International Camel & Ostrich Races, presented by Dolan Auto Group, is sponsored by Coors Light/Blue Moon, Reno Media Group, Virginia City’s Mustang Ranch Steakhouse, the Bucket of Blood Saloon and the Delta Saloon.
