Carson City sheriff’s weekend log: Man booked for felony assault, domestic battery

A 33-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday on a felony charge of assault with a deadly weapon and misdemeanor charges of domestic battery, resisting arrest and discharging a firearm in a residence, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Carson Now is withholding the name of the suspect for the safety of the victim and her children. According to the arrest report, deputies were called to a Enterprise Way residence at approximately 10:19 a.m. in reference to a domestic battery. The victim and her three boys ages 11, 10 and 6 were evacuated from the home by an arriving sheriff’s office sergeant. The victim told police the man threw a glass at her, and then pointed a shotgun within 10 inches of her head.

The man was inside and refused to come outside. Officers attempted to speak with him from the residence but he would not come out. He spoke nonsense both to dispatch and to officers. It was decided that since the victims were safe, the officers would leave to de-escalate the situation.

At 1:45 p.m. the suspect contacted 911 at which time he stated he needed to file a report. He advised that a person known to him had come to the front door and demanded $30 that was owed to him. The suspect said he did not have the $30 and told police the man kicked the door and said he would be back.

Officers responded to the original location and the man came out on his own accord. Deputies could not find evidence of where the door was kicked. He was placed under arrest at 1:49 p.m. for one count of domestic battery and assault with a deadly weapon, both felonies. During the investigation, it was determined the man fired a round into the ceiling of the home. The shotgun was recovered.

The man resisted arrest and once inside the patrol car, pounded his forehead on the plexiglass. He continued his violent behavior all the way into the jail, kicking, pounding and demanding his release, the report states. Bail: $24,126.

— Four people were arrested Saturday, 9:16 a.m. on multiple felony drug charges after Carson City sheriff’s deputies found marijuana growing in a backyard of a Utah Street residence. Carson Now is withholding the names of the suspects to protect the identities of two children who live inside the residence.

According to the arrest report, deputies were dispatched to a duplex in the 2000 block of Utah Street in reference to material burning in the backyard. The reporting witness said there was also marijuana plants growing in the backyard.

On arrival officers made contact with the people who lived in the home. Outside the home were three large, mature plants and two smaller plants in jars that were set in the center of the yard uncovered and growing plain view, in an unsecured, open-air area, freely accessible, unable to be ignored by the occupants of the residence and the children.

One of occupants of the home was asked about the plants, but deflected the question. He was asked if he knew it was illegal to grow without a marijuana card. The man said he knew it was illegal. Neither he or anyone else living in the residence have a medical card and they were placed into custody.

Among those arrested, a man and woman, both 51, for felony charges of possession of a controlled substance, maintaining a drug house and unlawful production of marijuana. Bail: $30,500 each; a man and woman, both 25, for conspiracy possession of a controlled substance and unlawful production, conspiracy, of marijuana. Bail: $7,500 each.

— A 36-year-old transient, Steve Ray Queen, was arrested Saturday, 3:35 p.m. on a felony drug possession charge and six misdemeanors. According to the arrest report, officers stopped two men riding bicycles for failing to stop at a posted sign at the intersection of Harbin and Second Street and again at Harbin and Fifth Street. One man stopped while the suspect ditched the bike and took off running and entered an apartment complex. A reporting witness said the man went into an apartment.

Deputies knocked on the door. After several knocks, the door was opened and a man said the suspect was inside a bedroom. The suspect walked from the back room and surrendered. A check through dispatch showed he had a confirmed warrant for his arrest. Officers observed a plunger piece of a syringe on the ground. The man told officers he knew he had a warrant for his arrest and decided to run, the arrest report states.

He was asked if he had any drugs on him and he stated he did not. He was asked if there were drugs in the apartment and he said he tucked drugs between a mattress in the bedroom. He told authorities that when he ran into the bedroom he loaded a syringe with heroin and injected himself as deputies were yelling for him to surrender, the report states.

The suspect told officers he hid about a gram of heroin between the mattress. The bedroom was search were officers found numerous used syringes, a black pouch that contained several plastic baggies with heroin. The man told officers there was more drug paraphernalia in the bathroom cabinet where he had tossed a black pouch that contained a spoon with brown cotton swabs. He was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance, a felony and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, obstructing a police officer, two counts failure to stop at a stop sign, violence of pre-trial supervision and possession of marijuana. Bail: $8,010.

— A 27-year-old Carson City man, Sergio Ivan Teutli, was arrested Sunday, 2:04 a.m. in the 3900 block of South Carson Street on a felony warrant, DUI causing substantial bodily harm. The warrant was issued June 17, 2015 out of Reno Justice Court. According to the arrest report, officers were called to a casino regarding a fight. A check was made through dispatch on one of the people involved and it came back with the warrant. Bail: $20,000.

— A 30-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Sunday, 11:02 a.m. in the 3200 block of Highway 50 East on a misdemeanor warrant charge of theft. Bail: $500.

— A 50-year-old Dayton woman was arrested Sunday, 10:56 a.m. in the 3200 block of Highway 50 East on two failure to appear warrants for traffic violation and driving on a suspended license. Bail: $2,347.

— A 30-year-old South Lake Tahoe man was arrested Sunday, 1:02 p.m. in the 4200 block of South Carson Street on misdemeanor charges of driving on a suspended registration, not using a turn signal, a failure to appear warrant out of Tahoe Justice court and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail: $1,726.

— A 34-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Sunday, 1:03 a.m. in the 2100 block of South Roop Street on a misdemeanor charge of domestic battery. According to the arrest report, the woman admitted to slapping her boyfriend during an argument. Both had been drinking. Bail $3,137.

— A 21-year-old Incline Village man was arrested Sunday, 2:46 a.m. on a misdemeanor charge of battery. Bail: $1,137.

— An 18-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, 12:46 a.m. in the area of Peters and Long Street on charges of driving under the influence, using a cell phone while driving, not having a valid driver’s license and minor possessing and consuming alcohol. Bail: $1,683.

On May 15th, 2024, shortly after midnight, deputies with the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence located on the 600 block of Angela Street in Fernley, Nev., reference a caller who reported that he had murdered his mother. The caller additionally provided that he barricaded himself inside the house, was armed with a rifle, and had planted pipe bombs at the residence.

On a sunny Saturday morning, 100 volunteer participants fanned out across Lake Tahoe’s South Shore to take water quality samples from 34 streams, creeks, ponds, and lakes to monitor the health of the Truckee River watershed and Lake Tahoe as part of the 24th annual Snapshot Day. They were joined by teams doing the same tests simultaneously in other regions of the watershed.

Just before noon on Tuesday a crash with injuries was reported on the I-580 on ramp from N. Carson Street.

According to dispatch there are two vehicles involved, one of which was towing a trailer.

Injuries have been reported and the number two lane is blocked.

Traffic cameras show vehicles are moving slowly but are able to get through to Washoe Valley.

Motorists must use caution in the area.
