Carson City Fair returns today through the weekend, $1 rides all night Wednesday
The Carson City Fair returns today, Wednesday with good old fashioned hometown capital city fun, including livestock showings, carnival rides and games, eating contests, dunk tanks, a Day of Service, concerts and more.
The Fair will run from Wednesday, July 25 through Sunday, July 29 at the Fuji Park Fairgrounds in Carson City.
Volunteers are still needed; visit their website to sign up.
Carson City’s Jump Around Carson bus service will offer free rides on the entire fixed route system coinciding with the 2018 Carson City Fair, Wednesday through Sunday.
The JAC transit system operates four fixed routes that serve the Carson City area. Hours of operation are 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturdays.
Route 3 allows fair-goers to travel from downtown Carson City to Fuji Park. JAC will also be operating a special fair route that will travel non-stop between the Walmart parking lot on Topsy Lane and Fuji Park. Hours of this service are scheduled for 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Thursday, July 26 to Saturday, July 28, and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, July 29.

Meanwhile, early fair set-up is now underway, with the events unfolding on Wednesday featuring live music playing from 12:30 to 10 p.m. The Grand Opening Ceremony will be held in the arena at 6 p.m., and free horseback entertainment will immediately follow.
The Wednesday carnival and vendor soft opening will be from 6 to 10 p.m., including $1 rides all night.
On Thursday, the Elk’s Lodge Breakfast will be held 6 to 11 a.m., lunch from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. with the popular Dog Show that will run from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Youth livestock showings begin at 8 a.m.
Thursday carnival begins 11 a.m., and ends 10 p.m. Live music runs from 12:30 to 10 p.m.
Friday, silent auction begins 8 a.m., ends 10 p.m. Antique tractor show set up 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Journey Unlimited Concert will be held in the Arena from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Saturday, Engine and Tractor Displays, Antique Cars and Trucks, and Robert Foster’s Antique Scales will all be viewable from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. The Tractor pulls begin at 12 p.m.
Day of Service begins 1 p.m. and ends at 4 p.m.
Tractor Silent Auction Winners Announced 3 p.m. Youth livestock auction is from 5 to 7 p.m. David John and the Comstock Cowboys will perform in the arena from 8 p.m. until 10 p.m.
