Spectacular cloud formation during sunset Tuesday over western Nevada skies
Tuesday evening made for spectacular photography as the sun was setting throughout western Nevada and Sierra. These photos of the wave of standing lenticular clouds were taken by Nicole Hooper in Dayton. The first three show the range of the cloud formations and the fourth photo was taken Wednesday morning, where Hooper notes "this morning was pretty too."

We can expect breezy conditions and low humidity today, prompting the National Weather Service in Reno to issue a Red Flag wind warning throughout much of the region. The warning is from 11 a.m. Wednesday until 11 p.m. Thursday night.
Expect sustained winds from the west to southwest 15 to 25 mph with gusts 35+ mph each afternoon Wednesday and Thursday. Winds will diminish overnight except on ridges and some mid-slopes. Avoid outdoor activities that could cause a spark near dry vegetation, such as yard work, target shooting, or campfires. Follow local fire restrictions.
For Carson City, Carson Valley and Dayton areas, we can expect breezy conditions, with highs in the mid 70s through Friday.
