Carson City Sheriff's arrest log: Deputies make multiple weekend drug, DUI busts

Three people were arrested in two separate busts late Friday night into early Saturday morning on felony drug offenses, Carson City Sheriff's deputies reported.

In the first incident, two individuals were taken into custody at 11:17 p.m. in the 3300 block of U.S. Highway 50 East following a traffic stop that resulted in the recovery of prescription drugs and methamphetamine, according to a Carson City Sheriff's deputy report.

Lisa Danner, 33, and 37 year-old Allen Drennan, both of Dayton, were arrested for felony possession of meth and schedule 2 and 4 prescription drugs, gross misdemeanor prescription drug possession without a prescription, felony intent to sell, and misdemeanor drug paraphernalia possession, the arrest report said.

Deputies performed a traffic stop on a suspect vehicle that failed to stop at a posted stop sign. Danner was identified as the driver and Drennan, the passenger.

A records check through Carson City Dispatch confirmed Drennan was on active supervision through Carson City Department of Alternative Sentencing (DAS) for possession of controlled substance, the report said.

A digital scale was observed in plain view of the officers. The suspects were asked to exit the vehicle while a K-9 officer performed an exterior sniff, which resulted in a positive alert, the report said.

The vehicle was subsequently searched and meth residue was found on the digital scale. Several baggies containing trace amounts of meth along with one baggie containing 3.11 grams of meth, another with 0.75 grams, $50 cash, and pay-owe sheets listing names, dates, dollar and drug amounts were recovered in the search.

Also found was a meth pipe and several hypodermic devices, including one containing liquid meth inside of it. Baggies of pills, including four oxycodones, one morphine, and one alprazolam tablet were recovered as well.

The two suspects were handcuffed and transported to the Carson City Jail for booking. Bail: $15,000 each.

In other arrests:

— A 29 year-old Gardnerville woman was arrested early Saturday morning at 2:30 a.m. in the area of Stewart and Carson streets for felony possession of more than one ounce of marijuana and gross misdemeanor possession of a dangerous weapon, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported.

Alexandra Christine Della-Russo was taken into custody following a traffic stop of her vehicle. Della-Russo was identified upon law enforcement making contact with her, but she failed to produce any of the required documentation for her vehicle, the arrest report said.

A records check through Carson City Dispatch showed Della-Russo had a suspended driver's license for failing to appear in court.

Two open cups containing liquid in them were in plain view of the deputies during the stop and smelled like alcohol. Additionally, the deputies also observed a glass smoking pipe packed with a green, leafy substance in the center console with the cups and a large glass jar in the back seat that appeared to be full of the green, leafy substance consistent with marijuana, the report said.

The deputy noted the odor of burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle. Della-Russo admitted to recently smoking marijuana in the vehicle.

Della-Russo was placed under arrest at that point. During the inventory of her vehicle, a device identified as a slungshot/blackjack weapon was recovered inside the center console.

In addition to the felony and gross misdemeanor offenses, Della-Russo was also charged with the following misdemeanors: open container, driving on a suspended license, no proof of vehicle insurance, and no proof of registration. She was transported to the Carson City Jail for booking. Bail: $2,500.

— A 27 year-old Reno man was arrested early Saturday morning at 2:58 a.m. in the area of Carson and Nye streets for misdemeanor first offense driving under the influence (DUI) and speeding 11-15 miles per hour (mph) over the speed limit, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported.

According to the report, a Sheriff's deputy on patrol observed a white SUV approach from behind traveling at an estimated 40 mph in a 25 mph speed zone. Rear motion radar confirmed speed at 12 mph over the speed limit.

Once the vehicle passed, the deputy activated emergency lights and performed a traffic stop. Contact was made with the driver, who smelled of alcohol and displayed red, watery eyes, the report said.

The suspect consented to field sobriety testing (FST) and demonstrated signs of impairment. A preliminary breath test (PBT) was also consented to and yielded .125 percent breath-alcohol content (BAC).

The suspect was then handcuffed and transported to the Carson City Jail for booking. Bail: $1,000.

— A 29 year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday morning at 5:44 a.m. in the area of Musser and Carson streets for misdemeanor first-offense DUI, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported.

According to the arrest report, a traffic stop was made on a vehicle that had fled the scene of a fight. Sheriff's deputies caught up to the vehicle and pulled it over.

The driver was identified and appeared intoxicated. He admitted to having been drinking, then slept inside his vehicle and was on his way home. During contact with the suspect, deputies observed he displayed watery, blood-shot eyes and a moderate smell of alcohol could be smelled on him, the report said.

The suspect consented to FST, which showed signs of impairment. A PBT was also consented to, yielding BAC above the legal limit, the report said.

He was handcuffed and transported to the Carson City Jail for booking. Bail: $1,000.

The passenger in the vehicle, also a 29 year-old Carson City man, was reported as being combative with officers during the traffic stop. He was identified by his driver's license and a records check through Carson City Dispatch showed he was active in DAS with a no-alcohol clause.

After at first being verbally uncooperative with officers, the passenger suspect eventually consented to a PBT, which yielded BAC of .207 percent. DAS was advised and requested his arrest.

Once at the jail, though, the suspect refused to exit the patrol vehicle, shouting at deputies, "Show me your badge number" and "I know my rights."

Jail staff came out to assist deputies in getting the suspect out of the patrol vehicle. He remained uncooperative. He became cooperative once inside the jail, where he was booked. Bail: $1,000.

UPDATE THURSDAY: The Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the two people who died Wednesday morning following the two vehicle crash on I-580 in Carson City. They are Alejandra Hernandez Valtierra, 36, and Viola Santoyo Huizar, 48, both of Carson City.

UPDATE 12:42PM: Southbound I-580 in Carson City was opened as of around 11 a.m., said a Nevada State Police spokeswoman, who provided more details of the fatal crash that happened early Wednesday morning.

Both the driver of a car and a truck involved in the crash died. Their names have not been released pending notification of family members. The car, which was going the wrong way — northbound in the southbound lane — struck the truck and caught on fire, according to a NSP preliminary investigation thus far. The vehicle makes are unknown at this time.
