Beating the Sunday heat at Carson City's McFadden Plaza
Bob McFadden Plaza in downtown Carson City, where Third Street once connected to Carson and Curry, may just be the coolest spot in town this summer.
Children splashed in the cool, refreshing waters of the plaza fountain Sunday as temperatures reached into the low nineties.
Sunday's high was recorded at about 92 degrees, according to CarsonWeather.com, and heat is expected to continue through next week.
The forecast high for Monday is expected to reach 93 degrees, the National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno reported, with temperatures stayed around 90 degrees until Thursday when the area cools back into the low to mid-eighties.
Winds could be gusty tomorrow, blowing sustained 15-20 miles per hour (mph) out of the west-southwest and as high as 40 mph in some areas.
Fire danger remains very high and a red flag warning will be in effect from 2 to 10 p.m. Monday, the NWS reports.
