Comstock era logging bull wheel featured at Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park tour
LAKE TAHOE, Nev. — Join a park ranger on a guided tour of the historic bull wheel, located near Incline Village. The Bull Wheel was part of the Great Incline Tramway of the Sierra, and was used for logging during the Comstock era, 1859 to 1880 in Virginia City.
The Comstock mining operations required a massive supply of wood, mostly taken from the forest surrounding the Lake Tahoe Basin.
The tour will begin at 9:30 a.m. and end by 3 p.m. Vehicles are provided. Be prepared for a 2 mile moderate hike, and be sure to bring food and drink for the day. Reservations are required as group size is limited to 12. Please call 775-749-5980 or email spooner.ranger@gmail.com to sign up.
