Comstock era logging bull wheel featured at Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park tour

LAKE TAHOE, Nev. — Join a park ranger on a guided tour of the historic bull wheel, located near Incline Village. The Bull Wheel was part of the Great Incline Tramway of the Sierra, and was used for logging during the Comstock era, 1859 to 1880 in Virginia City.

The Comstock mining operations required a massive supply of wood, mostly taken from the forest surrounding the Lake Tahoe Basin.

2017 Nevada Excellence in Mine Reclamation Award winners named

CARSON CITY, NV – The Nevada Excellence in Mine Reclamation Awards for 2017 were presented on September 9 at the annual Nevada Mining Association Convention in South Lake Tahoe. Four awards were presented this year:

Open Pit Mine For Silver City, "Come Hell or High Water"

On August 1, 2017, Comstock Mining, Inc. (CMI) released its quarterly report, which included a number of statements and topics important to Silver City. CMI’s ultimate goal of an open pit mine in Silver City remains unchanged. The company plans to begin the permitting process for the Dayton Mine by the end of the year. “We are marching toward Dayton feasibility come hell or high water,” according to company CEO Corrado DeGasperis, with production plans ready to go in two years.

NNDA announces second Certified Site at 98-acre industrial area in Silver Springs

Northern Nevada Development Authority announced Tuesday the accreditation of Comstock Mining Inc.’s 98-acre property in Silver Springs, Nev., as the second Certified Site through the Nevada Certified Site Program.

Happy birthday Nevada: How, when and where to celebrate Nevada Day 2016 events

Memorial Day weekend fun continues at Carson City's Nevada State Railroad Museum

Visitors to the Nevada State Railroad Museum on Memorial Day weekend will see the fully restored 1875 locomotive Glenbrook under steam for public viewing and can take a ride on the steam train pulled by the Virginia & Truckee locomotive No. 25 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday and Monday.

Silver Terrace Cemeteries Director To Speak On History of the Comstock Cemeteries

However, Candace Wheeler, director of the Comstock Cemetery Foundation, has been a one-woman bastion against vandalism and defamation of the historic cemeteries of Virginia City, Gold Hill, and Silver City.

Nevada Travel Network wins first place press association awards

In its first entry into the Nevada Press Association‘s annual awards competition the Gold Hill-based Nevada Travel Network was awarded first place in two of the three categories it entered.

The blue ribbon for ‘Best Writing Online’ was awarded to the monthly NevadaGram and First Place in the ‘Best Feature Story Online’ category went to David Toll for “A visit to the Belmont Mill and Hamilton."

NDOT: Section of State Route 342 temporarily closed for bypass construction

A section of State Route 342 south of Gold Hill will temporarily be closed beginning Tuesday through Nov. 12 for finishing construction of a Comstock Mining Inc. project to realign the road, according to the Nevada Department of Transportation.

Comstock Mining Inc. (the “Company”) (NYSE MKT: LODE) received on Saturday, September 12, 2015, a Nevada Excellence in Mine Reclamation Award. The Company received the Excellence in Mine Reclamation Award for the full restoration of the Keystone Mine, and was also recognized along with the Comstock Foundation for History and Culture (the “Foundation”), for Outstanding Rehabilitation of the historic Upper Yellow Jacket Hoist Works.
