Come enjoy a day at the huge 28-acre Historic Sutro Tunnel Site. Our fantastic tour guides and historians will be onsite to teach you the history of the buildings, equipment and the tunnel. We will also have Randee Rule and the Virginia City Outlaws dressed as miners interacting with the site and Carson Chandler playing music.

Virginia City, Nev., once a boomtown responsible for producing more than $700 million in mined gold and silver ore from the Comstock Lode, is today primarily driven by tourism. Its main street is lined with mom and pop shops, restaurants and businesses with owners who’ve called this small mountain mining town their home for years.

This Nevada Day weekend the residents of Storey County welcomed a new miner to town. A wooden carved miner statue found its new home at Miners Park in Virginia City surrounded by a welcoming crowd and a proud visionary.

Dozens of contestants put their strength to the test Saturday during the 45th annual World Championship Single Jack Rock Drilling Contest in Carson City.

The Silver State celebrates its birthday this week in Carson City and will put on a statehood celebration like no other as Nevada Day comes into full swing, featuring the annual parade down Carson Street on Saturday, a carnival at Mills Park, The La Ka Lel Be Pow Wow at the MAC, activities for adults and kids, contests, delicious food dishes, pancakes, chili and plenty of beverages to suit every wild hair.

It's that spooky time again, when the leaves begin to fall, Nevada Day is gearing up to bring us the best parade in the state, and our little ghouls and goblins are putting together their terrifying and adorable costumes in preparation for sugary chaos.

CARSON CITY — The fundraising arm of Western Nevada College — WNC Foundation — held its fourth annual Reach for the Stars Gala on Aug. 10, raising more than $75,000 to benefit students seeking higher education.

Virginia City’s popularity as a “must-see” destination has never waned, and with the local tourist agency's focus on bringing more events to the Comstock, visitor numbers are certainly expected to grow.

One thing the historic mining town wasn’t prepared for, however, was a strain on one very-important utility.

For the Virginia & Truckee Railroad, the story of its future as part of Nevada’s living history will be guided by its illustrious 150-year past.

Several art and music events in Carson City on Friday, June 7 are perfectly timed so you can attend all three. Nevada's celebration of statehood provides for a bevy of activities that showcase the Silver State's best. From contests to exhibits, food and beverages of all kinds, Native dancing, hot air balloons, concerts, a carnival celebration at Mills Park and the famed Nevada Day parade, there is something for everyone throughout the long weekend.

LAKE TAHOE, Nev. — Join a park ranger on a guided tour of the historic bull wheel, located near Incline Village. The Bull Wheel was part of the Great Incline Tramway of the Sierra, and was used for logging during the Comstock era, 1859 to 1880 in Virginia City.

The Comstock mining operations required a massive supply of wood, mostly taken from the forest surrounding the Lake Tahoe Basin.

Comstock Mining, Inc. (CMI) filed its Third Quarter Securities and Exchange Commission financial and business report on October 31, accompanied by a press release and conference call hosted by Comstock’s CEO, Corrado DeGasperis. The Halloween date is appropriate, since “Trick or treat?” is an obvious question to be asking of this company.

It’s that time again. The Battle Born state celebrates its admission to the United States on the last Friday of October, with the annual Nevada Day parade on Saturday. New this year is a ‘Passport to Downtown’ event on Friday. Also new this year is the one-night-only curated art show, Capital Collage, on Friday night featuring over 20 diverse artists and organizations.

CARSON CITY, NV – The Nevada Excellence in Mine Reclamation Awards for 2017 were presented on September 9 at the annual Nevada Mining Association Convention in South Lake Tahoe. Four awards were presented this year:

On August 1, 2017, Comstock Mining, Inc. (CMI) released its quarterly report, which included a number of statements and topics important to Silver City. CMI’s ultimate goal of an open pit mine in Silver City remains unchanged. The company plans to begin the permitting process for the Dayton Mine by the end of the year. “We are marching toward Dayton feasibility come hell or high water,” according to company CEO Corrado DeGasperis, with production plans ready to go in two years.

Northern Nevada Development Authority announced Tuesday the accreditation of Comstock Mining Inc.’s 98-acre property in Silver Springs, Nev., as the second Certified Site through the Nevada Certified Site Program.

Nevada is one of the few states that celebrate its Admission Day, and boy do we throw a party. A parade, competitions of strength and facial hair, hot air balloons, bloody marys, a carnival, pow wow, and free chili are just a few of the festivities awaiting the capital city on Saturday.

The party begins Friday this year with a ribbon cutting celebration of the 'new' downtown. The Nevada State Museum hits its 75th Anniversary this year and will have a day full of fun and surprises. Visitors to the Nevada State Railroad Museum on Memorial Day weekend will see the fully restored 1875 locomotive Glenbrook under steam for public viewing and can take a ride on the steam train pulled by the Virginia & Truckee locomotive No. 25 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday and Monday.

Saint Patrick was a gentleman, who through strategy and stealth, drove all the snakes from Ireland, here’s a toasting to his health. But not too many toastings, lest you lose yourself and then, forget the good Saint Patrick and see all those snakes again! Happy St. Patrick’s Day, Carson City. There are some great parties going on around town, check out the list to find them all. Don’t forget to designate a sober driver or call a taxi if whiskey or green beer are part of the day’s plan.

There is loads of history for free, or donations, if you are so inspired, at the Silver Terrace Cemeteries in Virginia City. However, Candace Wheeler, director of the Comstock Cemetery Foundation, has been a one-woman bastion against vandalism and defamation of the historic cemeteries of Virginia City, Gold Hill, and Silver City.

Known for its Wild West traditions and old miner Comstock legends, Virginia City has its authentic Nevada history and quirky, outlandish special events that keep people from around the world coming back for more.

This year is no different as the town’s 2016 special events calendar includes fan favorites such as the International Camel and Ostrich Races, the Rocky Mountain Oyster Fry and several parades as well as a brand new event, a western rodeo in September.

Comstock Mining Inc. CEO Corrado De Gasperis will speak on “Comstock Bonanzas and an Overview of the Global Gold Industry on Thursday, Oct. 29 at the Thursday Night Gold Hill Lecture Series. The series features local historians and performers to present the topic of their choice.

In its first entry into the Nevada Press Association‘s annual awards competition the Gold Hill-based Nevada Travel Network was awarded first place in two of the three categories it entered.

The blue ribbon for ‘Best Writing Online’ was awarded to the monthly NevadaGram and First Place in the ‘Best Feature Story Online’ category went to David Toll for “A visit to the Belmont Mill and Hamilton."

A section of State Route 342 south of Gold Hill will temporarily be closed beginning Tuesday through Nov. 12 for finishing construction of a Comstock Mining Inc. project to realign the road, according to the Nevada Department of Transportation.

Comstock Mining Inc. (the “Company”) (NYSE MKT: LODE) received on Saturday, September 12, 2015, a Nevada Excellence in Mine Reclamation Award. The Company received the Excellence in Mine Reclamation Award for the full restoration of the Keystone Mine, and was also recognized along with the Comstock Foundation for History and Culture (the “Foundation”), for Outstanding Rehabilitation of the historic Upper Yellow Jacket Hoist Works.
