Carson City sheriff’s log: deputies make several felony, misdemeanor arrests

A 23-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday, 1:05 a.m. in the 4000 block of South Curry on a misdemeanor criminal contempt warrant, issued Feb. 11, 2015 out of Carson City Justice Court and possession of marijuana. Bail: $1,237.

— A 38-year-old Carson City man was Wednesday, 2:10 p.m. in the 3000 block of Retail Drive on a misdemeanor warrant, violation of a suspended sentence, issued April 16, 2015 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $3,000.

— A 41-year-old Carson City man was booked into jail Wednesday, 9:30 a.m. on a misdemeanor warrant, contempt of court, issued May 12, 2015 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $2,500.

— A 59-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Wednesday, 6:39 p.m. in the 300 block of A Street on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs, expired registration, not having a driver’s license in possession and no proof of insurance. Bail: $2,003.

— A 49-year-old Carson City man, Daniel Alan Pozniak, was arrested Wednesday, 7:10 p.m. in the 1400 block of North Carson Street on suspicion of felony domestic battery by strangulation, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
The woman told officer she was hit and choked by the man. There were no signs of injuries observed on the woman’s neck or her head. Carson City fire evaluated her and she was released. Pozniak told officers that he did not batter the woman and that the woman battered him, striking him several times in the rib cage.

He told officers he did not want to file charges against the woman. There were no signs of injury on the man. He was taken to hospital for medical clearance due to his intoxication level. He blew a .36 on a preliminary breath test. A criminal background check showed the man had a prior conviction for domestic battery. He was charged with domestic battery second offense with strangulation. Bail: $15,000.

— An 18-year-old Carson City woman, Shelby Lynn Essex, was arrested Wednesday, 10:42 p.m. in the area of East William and Saliman Road on a felony warrant, violation of a suspended sentence, issued Nov. 18, 2014 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $3,000.

— A 53-year-old Carson City woman, Dorothy Ann Woods, was booked Wednesday into Carson City jail on a felony warrant parole violation charge issued April 2, 2003. She is being held without bail pending a hearing.

— A 27-year-old Carson City man was arrested Wednesday, 9:58 p.m. in the 2900 block of Menlo Drive on a misdemeanor warrant charge, violation of a suspended sentence, issued May 13, 2015 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $3,000.

— A prisoner released from Northern Nevada Correction Center faces a felony sexual assault charge, after a warrant was issued for his arrest. Robert Lee, 40, was booked Monday into Carson City Jail on the warrant charge of sexual assault, a category D felony. The warrant was issued April 16, 2015 out of Carson City Justice Court. He’s being held without bail pending a hearing.

— A 48-year-old Carson City woman, Christine Lee Bailey, booked into jail Monday, 4:48 p.m. on four felony counts of violation of an extended stalking order, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
According to the arrest report, an officer was dispatched to 1800 Russell way for a court order violation report. Dispatch confirmed there were six active extended stalking orders against Bailey.
The officer arrived and spoke with four women who all have stalking harassment restraining orders against the woman. The four said that at 3:10 p.m. as they were finishing up a game of bingo in the commons area of the complex, the woman allegedly walked by them and was holding her cell phone in front of her like she was recording them. As she walked by she allegedly “was mouthing” an obscenity to them, the arrest report states.

The officer spoke with the suspect who showed the video from her cell phone. It showed her walking but the screen was covered as she walked past the common room, the arrest report states. She walked to the elevator hallway and stood facing the common room waiting for the elevator. Instead of stepping into the elevator hallway, she stood recording the other ladies in the hallway facing the common room, the arrest report states. Bail: $60,000.

— A 33-year-old woman, Anne Marie Hess, was arrested Monday, May 18, in the 3800 block of South Carson Street on suspicion of felony burglary. According to the arrest report, an officer was dispatched to a department store regarding a woman in the store who had gone into the fitting room and put clothes on she that she had not purchased. She was also observed placing other items in a purse throughout the store, and loss prevention believed she was going to leave without paying.

When the officer arrived she observed loss prevention escorting a woman back into the store. The woman identified herself. She was read her Miranda rights and declined to speak.
Located in the purse that was also stolen, loss prevention found a pair of pliers and magnets. Both items are common used to remove tags and security tags as to not activate alarms at the entrance or exits of business. The woman told the officer she had been arrested in Reno before for shoplifting. Bail: $20,000.

— A 22-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, May 17, on suspicion of misdemeanor domestic battery and deliberately killing a small pet rodent, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

According to the arrest report, an officer was flagged down as he was arriving at the sheriff’s office by a female who was cradling a dead Guinea pig. The visibly upset woman told officers that her boyfriend slapped her in the face and then killed her Guinea pig. The woman had some swelling on her left eye. She identified her boyfriend to the officer and said the man had threatened to kill her other animals as she ran from the apartment seeking help.

Additional deputies responded to the apartment in attempt to locate the man, who had left. The woman checked on the other animals and they were safe, according to the arrest report. The deputy contacted the man by phone and said he needed to talk to him because of the domestic battery. The man asked the officer what the woman had said and then told the officer that everything the woman said was true and that he was sorry. He said he would meet with the officer and turn himself in.

The man arrived at the sheriff’s office. He admitted to slapping the woman several times in the face and then throwing the Guinea pig against the wall, killing it. The man was arrested and charged with domestic battery and torturing, injury or killing an animal. Bail: $4,274.
