Missing Dayton woman found dead, suspect in custody
UPDATE: The body of a missing Dayton area woman was found Tuesday in a remote canyon and a suspect, the woman's brother-in-law, is in custody on suspicion of murder, according to the Lyon County Sheriff's Office.
In cooperation with the Nevada Division of Investigations and with the assistance of the Washoe County Crime Lab, the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office has arrested James Hamrick, 55, of Dayton in connection with the death of Davis. He is the brother-in-law of Davis, a Lyon County Sheriff's Office investigator confirmed.
Hamrick is being held at the Lyon County Detention Center in Yerington and charged with open murder and is being held without bail.
Davis went missing the afternoon of Thursday, April 28, 2016, and was the subject of several extensive searches in the area by multiple agencies, including Lyon County Search and Rescue and Washoe County’s Raven helicopter.
An autopsy will be performed on Wednesday to determine the cause of death and to make a positive identification. The Storey County Sheriff’s Office is conducting the Coroner Investigation on the found remains. The Nevada Division of Investigation and Lyon County detectives believe the remains are those of Toni Davis based on the information that led to the discovery.

Toni Davis, 60, had been missing since April 28.
Her body was discovered in the Six Mile Canyon, a remote area in Storey County. She died of a gunshot wound, according to those associated with the investigation. A man is in custody.
A search warrant was executed and several items of evidence were seized earlier this month from the residence of Davis. Investigators released photos of a truck that may have provided clues in the investigation.
The motive for the crime hasn't been released. We are awaiting more information from the Lyon County Sheriff's Office.
