Carson City deputies punched, kicked and bit following DUI arrest

A 47-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Monday on multiple misdemeanor charges after she allegedly punched, kicked, and bit two deputies following an arrest made on suspicion of driving under the influence.

The arrest was made following a traffic accident involving a NDOT vehicle. The driver of the NDOT vehicle was hit by a green Chevy Suburban, driven by the suspect, according to the arrest report. The female suspect told the female arresting officer that she had been drinking. When asked how much she had to drink, the woman replied: "about half of a bottle." A half a bottle of what remains unclear. The woman declined to tell the officer what she had been drinking.

The woman was told to stay on the sidewalk while the arresting officer gave the NDOT driver paperwork to fill out. The woman, instead, went back to her vehicle. When the officer asked the woman if she had any identification, the woman told the officer to "&uck off." She then told the arresting officer that she was going to "kick her ass" if she didn't leave her alone, according to the arrest report. The female suspect also told the officer: "I can really hurt you, you don't know."

When the officer asked the woman for her driver's license she punched the arresting officer in the neck and upper chest area, knocking her radio mic off of her uniform. The officer grabbed the woman's right wrist and upper shoulder for a controlled take down into the grass, according to the arrest report. The suspect attempted to hit the officer in the face but the blow went to the chest area. The officer pinned the woman to the ground, where the woman attempted to bite the officer's right arm. The officer reached for her Taser and the woman grabbed at the device, but the officer was able to get a five-second contact taze on the woman's right side.

The woman did not stop resisting the officer, even while on the ground. She kicked and grabbed the neck of the officer, who called for back-up to be expedited. Undersheriff Steve Albertson arrived on the scene, and helped secure the woman's arms behind her back. Another deputy, who arrived also helped secure the woman's arms and the arresting officer then handcuffed the woman.

As the woman was about to be transported to jail, she apparently slipped through the cuffs. Deputies then opened the patrol car door and the woman laid down on the floor of the back seat. The woman refused to budge, according to the arrest report. Another deputy got into the back seat in an attempt to restrain the woman by grabbing her arms. Instead, the woman bit the officer in the upper thigh near his groin. The arresting officer got control of the woman's arms and placed another set of handcuffs on her wrists, which she double locked and checked for tightness.

The woman was pulled out of the vehicle and placed back inside. The woman agreed to give a preliminary breath test, but then refused to blow into the straw, according to the deputy report. The partial blow registered a .20. The woman then advised the arresting deputy that she was on several different medications, including Percocet, Vicoden, Adavan and possibly others.

WIth that information, the arresting officer thought it necessary that the woman be taken to the hospital for a medical clearance. While on the way, the woman called the arresting officer several vulgar names, and told her: "God will save your sorry as*, you bitc**."

At the hospital the woman became violent with hospital staff, thrashing and kicking. The woman was held down by the arresting officer and others for a forced blood draw. As a nurse attempted to draw blood, the woman tried to bite the nurse.

During transport from the hospital to the Carson City Jail, the woman slipped her hand out of the left handcuff again and starting hitting the back of the patrol car cage. The arresting officer called dispatch and explained that she had slipped out of the cuffs and was unbuckling herself. When the arresting officer arrived at the jail with the woman, deputies were on the scene to open the door. The woman told the deputies: "Look how badly your deputy handcuffed me."

The woman was escorted into the jail's padded room facility. Charges include two gross misdemeanor counts of battery on a peace officer and driving under the influence. Her bail was set at $6,401.

According to a deputy's report, the man was intoxicated and visiting family members at a Karin street residence in Carson City. He was holding his five-month-old grandchild in an unsafe manner allowing the baby to eat a house plant, according to the deputy report from witnesses. When he was told to stop, he became belligerent. When the man's own mother told him to leave, he told her in her ear: "I will kill you, I'll end your life right here and now" according to the deputy report.

The father of the baby tried to restrain the man by grabbing him and pulling him away from his mother. The father was punched several times by the subject. Welts were apparent across his face and his shirt was torn, according to the report. The subject was eventually pushed out of the house, where the doors were closed. The subject punched and kicked and left large imprints on the home's metal door, according to the arrest report.

The man left the residence and then later returned, somehow making entrance into the home. Deputies were called and the man was arrested without incident. It was learned the man was on court order for prior DUI and domestic violence charges. As the suspect was being photographed by a deputy, photos were also taken of the man's right hand "which was consistent with the dents on the front door" of the Karin street home.
