Carson City man faces felony weapon, drug sales charges following SET stop, warrant search

A 29-year-old Carson City man was booked into jail this weekend on stolen weapon, drug possession and drug sales charges, according to the Carson City Sheriff’s Office Special Enforcement Team.

Diego Daniel Escobedo was booked on suspicion of the following: Felony possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, possession of cocaine, possession of concentrated cannabis, possession of Xanax, gross misdemeanor possession of a prescription drug without a prescription and misdemeanor personal marijuana cultivation law violation.

According to the arrest report, on Saturday, March 3, a Special Enforcement Team officer executed a search warrant of the suspect’s residence in the 3300 block of Kathleen Drive. Earlier Saturday Escobedo, a convicted felon, was arrested and booked for suspicion of drug and firearm possession following a traffic stop.

SET deputies, Tri-County Gang Unit, TRINET and patrol were briefed on the search warrant and deputies made warning to enter the residence via loudspeaker, the arrest report states. During the investigation officers recovered multiple items, which included:

— A shotgun in which a records check showed it was confirmed stolen out of Lyon County. It was loaded with two live rounds and ready to fire.
— A backpack that contained a Ruger 9MM handgun in a nylon holster. The handgun had a round chambered, a full magazine, and an additional magazine in the holders. The hand gun’s safety was off and ready to fire.
— Ammunition for several other caliber firearms, over 200 rounds, in the same backpack along with ear protection and holsters.
— A taser located in the garage on a workbench.
— A marijuana grow operation investigators suspect as illegal.
— Two vials of cocaine, 14.7 grams of concentrated cannabis, a tube of marijuana seeds, two scales with drug reside and several small baggies. One set of the small baggies matched a baggie where cocaine was located during a traffic stop. Based on the possession of varying baggies and scales, investigators believe the suspect was selling drugs, the arrest report states.
— A large mirror on a night stand with 1/2 gram of cocaine and two vials on the surface. It appeared the lines of cocaine were cut over the surface of the mirror, the arrest report states.
— Two Xanax pills in a plastic baggie on the nightstand.
