WNC Baseball: Wildcats' series with Salt Lake moved to Carson City
For the second straight week, weather has caused a switch in playing sites for the Western Nevada College baseball team.
The Wildcats' four-game Scenic West Athletic Conference series with Salt Lake Community College has been moved to John L. Harvey Field in Carson City. Salt Lake City received three inches of snow on Tuesday and cold conditions were forecast until later in the week.
The teams will play at 2 p.m. Thursday, followed by a doubleheader starting at noon Friday and the series finale beginning at noon Saturday.
WNC (12-8) leads the SWAC standings after one week of play. The Wildcats took three of four games from College of Southern Idaho, a series that was originally scheduled for Twin Falls, Idaho, but was moved to Carson City because of weather concerns.
Salt Lake brings a 13-6 record to Carson City and has yet to play a SWAC game. The Bruins have won four of five games since losing to WNC, 4-1, on Feb. 20 in Henderson.
