Carson City sheriff’s weekend arrest log

A Carson City man was arrested Friday on felony charges including possession of methamphetamine for sale after officers found a jar containing several bindles of powder and crystal form of the drug, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Donald Wesley Grover, 36, was arrested in the 500 block of Wright Way after tossing the drugs while attempting to flee. After he was read his Miranda rights, he admitted the drugs were his and that he bought them off of a guy name “Pedro,” according to the arrest report. He admitted to drug use, saying he sells and does meth, buying and selling for a small profit.
He also faces a parole and probation violation and a failure to appear warrant, also felonies, issued Dec. 10, 2014 out of Carson City District Court. Bail: $20,000.

In other arrests: A 32-year-old Dayton woman was arrested Saturday, 6:17 p.m. in the area of Highway 50 and Mercury on misdemeanor charges of driving with a suspended license and registration and two failure to appear traffic warrants. Bail: $984.

— A 22-year Carson City man was arrested Saturday, 3:10 p.m. in the 600 block of Hot Springs Road on a misdemeanor charge of petit larceny. The man allegedly took $9.30 in merchandise from Walmart, left the store and also left his identification behind.

— A 19-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday, 3:15 a.m. in the 1800 block of Rock Court on misdemeanor charges of DUI and minor consuming alcohol. Officers were called to the scene in reference to a vehicle that crashed into a house.

Officers arrived and observed a Chevy truck that had driven through a fence and into the back of the residence. There were beer cans on the ground. Officer met with the driver and only occupant who had a strong odor of alcoholic beverage. He agreed a standardized field sobriety test with a preliminary breath test of .122. A blood draw was also done at the jail. Bail: $1,379.

— A 42-year-old Carson City man, Richard David Hoesch, was arrested Saturday, 12:43 a.m. in the area of Fifth Street and Mary Street on a felony suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, and five misdemeanor charges: possession of marijuana, three counts possession of drug paraphernalia, and violation of bail conditions.

— A 32-year-old Carson City man was arrested at 2:20 a.m. Saturday at Highway 50 casino on a misdemeanor warrant, violation of a suspended sentence, issued Feb. 10, 2015 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail $3,000.

— A 37-year-old Carson City woman, Katrina Lee Balzer, was arrested Friday, 4:32 p.m. in the 900 block of South Carson Street on a felony theft warrant, issued Feb. 13, 2014 out of Lyon County Justice Court. No bail hold.

— A 41-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Friday, 5:25 a.m. in the area of Division and Caroline streets on misdemeanor DUI. Bail: $1,274. The woman was stopped on a traffic violation and showed signs of impairment. She submitted to a field sobriety test with a result of .159. At jail she provided two voluntary samples each at .133, according to the arrest report.

— A 43-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday, 9:08 a.m. in the 600 block of Hot Springs Road on a misdemeanor charge, petit larceny, issued Feb. 18, 2015 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail; $1,000.

— A 54-year-old Minden woman was arrested Friday, 6:36 p.m. in the area of Telegraph and Plaza streets on a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant, issued Sept. 3, 2013 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $3,000.

— A 31-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Friday, 7:30 p.m. at the Walmart store in the 3200 block of Market Street on a misdemeanor charge of petit larceny. The woman allegedly stole clothing and perfume from the store and left without paying. Bail: $352.

— A 25-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday, 9:51 p.m. at the Walmart in the 3200 block of Market Street on charges of obstructing and petit larceny. The man allegedly stole merchandise from the store and ran from security. He was taken into custody behind a restaurant. Bail: $764.

— A 26-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday, 4:06 a.m. in the 3600 block of Goni Road on a misdemeanor charge of violation of a suspended sentence. He gave officers a fake name, and admitted to drinking alcohol at a casino while on Alternative Sentencing with a “no alcohol” clause. He agreed to a preliminary breath test with a result of .178. Bail: $1,000.

— A 50-year-old Carson City man was booked into Carson City jail on a misdemeanor warrant, violation of a suspended sentence, issued Feb. 18, 2015 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $1,000.

— A 52-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday, 8:13 a.m. in the area of Brown Street and Edmonds Drive on a misdemeanor warrant charge, contempt of court, issued Feb. 17, 2015 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $330.

— A 53-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday, 12:37 p.m. in the 1500 block of North Edmonds Drive on a misdemeanor warrant, criminal contempt, issued Feb. 12, 2015 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $841.

— A 21-year-old Dayton man was arrested Friday, 4:01 a.m. in the 3600 block of Goni Drive on a misdemeanor warrant, failure to appear, and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana. Bail: $1,067.

— A 22-year-old transient, Veronica Jacqueline Valencia, was arrested Feb. 18, 6:27 p.m. on suspicion of felony possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, two hypodermic needles. Bail: $3,637.

Those arrested and facing criminal charges are innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.

For the first time in 33 years, the Carson City Fourth of July fireworks will not be held near Mills Park.

Instead, the display will move to Eagle Valley Golf Course, located at 3999 Centennial Park Dr. In addition, the Fourth of July celebration will now include a golf tournament in addition to a dinner and VIP Fireworks viewing option.

The Moving Wall, a half-size replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C., will visit Douglas County for the second time this spring. The Moving Wall, which has been viewed around the country since 1984, will will be in Minden for the Memorial Day holiday weekend.

The Wall will be free to view for the duration of its display at the Eastside Memorial Park, 1600 Buckeye Rd, Minden from May 23-28, 2024. The building of the wall began at 10 a.m. Thursday.

Traffic was slow going in Carson City along Highway 50 East following two crashes Tuesday, according to Nevada State Police. There was a crash reported at around 3:50 p.m. on US-50 East and Nye Lane. There was a second crash at 5:18 p.m. reportedly near US-50 and Brown Street.
Injuries are unknown at this time. Motorists can expect delays.
