Nevada artists’ works featured during Nevada Legislative session
The works of six Nevada artists will be featured at the Nevada Arts Council’s Legislative eXhibition Series (LXS) at the Nevada State Legislative Building in Carson City during the biennial session.
Managed by the Artist Services Program of the Nevada Arts Council, the LXS Gallery space is located on the first floor in the Legislative Building, 401 S. Carson St., Carson City. The gallery is across the hall from the Caucus Deli. It is open to the public, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The 2017 LXS Series will feature the work of six Nevada artists:
· Feb. 6-24: Illustrations by Lisa Kurt, Reno;
· Feb. 27-March 17: Photography by Christopher Tsouras, Henderson;
· March 20-April 7: Mixed media by Jen Graham, Reno;
· April 10-28: Paintings by Kathryn Grider, Spring Creek;
· May 1-19, Mixed media by Myranda Bair, Las Vegas;
· May 22-June 9: Paintings by Eyob Mergia, Las Vegas.
Since 1985, the Nevada Arts Council’s Legislative eXhibition Series (LXS), has showcased the Silver State’s breadth of contemporary and folk artists.
Artists for the 2017 series were recommended by a committee made up of Alisha Funkhouser, Art Director, Holland Project, Reno; Darren Johnson, Gallery Director, Clark County Library Galleries, Las Vegas and Lauren M. Roovaart, Gallery Director, Northeastern Nevada Museum, Elko.
The Nevada Arts Council, a division of the Department of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, was founded in 1967 as the state agency charged with ensuring that state and national funds support cultural activity and encourage participation in the arts throughout Nevada. The agency’s programs and services are designed to support creative expression, animate communities, diversify local economies and provide lifelong learning in the arts for all Nevadans. The Nevada Arts Council is funded by the State of Nevada, the National Endowment for the Arts, and other public and private sources.
