Assemblyman Pete Livermore announces re-election bid
Pete Livermore has announced he will be running for a second term representing Assembly District 40, which encompasses most of Carson City.
Livermore served on the Carson City Board of Supervisors until he was elected to the Assembly in 2010, edging out fellow supervisor Robin Williamson.
The following is the text of a press release sent out by Livermore today:
Assemblyman Pete Livermore seeks re-election for Assembly District 40 seat
Reno, Nev.
Assemblyman Pete Livermore announced he is seeking re-election for Assembly District 40. Livermore, a Republican, said he believes he has much to offer the community in the redistricted Assembly District 40, which covers Carson City and southern Washoe County.
“This is no time for beginners. To be successful, the next Nevada Legislature needs experienced leaders who have proven themselves worthy of the public’s trust.”
Livermore has lived in Carson City since 1960. He was first elected into the Assembly in 2010 and has served on the Government Affairs, Health & Human Services, Natural Resources, Agriculture & Mining, and Taxation Committees. Prior to serving in the legislature, Livermore was elected three times to the Board of Supervisors in Carson City, serving as Chairman of the Carson City Debt Management Committee and the Carson City Audit Committee. He has had direct hands-on experience with financial issues facing both local and state governments.
As a successful businessman he owned and operated several restaurants for over 30 years in Carson City, Livermore knows the ropes on being self-employed. He understands the value of the dollar and making adjustments to meet the changing markets and consumer preferences.
Livermore and his wife Laurie have been married for 50 years. They have a son, two daughters and four grandchildren.
Livermore worked hard to pass Question 18, which provided more parks and sports fields, as well as open space for the Carson City community. As an elected official, he has been a champion of open and transparent government, and will continue to be at the next legislative session.
