Carson City Leisure Hour Club recognizes KNVC for community commitment
Carson City’s Leisure Hour Club recently donated $500 to KNVC community radio, 95.1 FM. The station was chosen as one of the club’s Outstanding Community Organizations earlier this year. The award was presented to Joe Bly, KNVC Program Director, at the station’s studios in Carson City.
In accepting the award, Mr. Bly noted that the donation would be used to purchase much needed audio equipment for the all-volunteer community station.
Each year the Leisure Hour Club recognizes local not-for-profit groups that excel in supporting the greater Carson City community.
While presenting the award to the KNVC, Leisure Hour Club president Debbie Lane said that the independent, non-commercial radio station is an exceptional example of a local grassroots organization and a reflection of the community it serves. The station is a hub for the civil exchange of ideas important to all residents. She noted the importance of financial contributions and the volunteer staff to the success of the station.
Community members interested in learning more about KNVC, making a contribution, or getting involved in the station operation can visit the organization’s website at https://www.knvc.org/
The Leisure Hour Club, established in September of 1896, is Carson City’s oldest continuously meeting social organization. Celebrating its 124th year, the organization continues to focus on its goal of promoting knowledge on important issues, science, music, and literature.
