KNVC GM to speak at Monday's Democratic luncheon

The featured speaker at Monday's Democratic luncheon will be KNVC General Manager Steve Funk. He will tell the story of Carson's community radio station from its humble beginnings in 2017 to today's diverse programmings that includes talk shows, news programs, serial dramas, and music genres that run the gamut from Rock, Pop, Blues and Jazz to Celtic, Retro, and Psychedelic.

Secrets of Harridge House, popularly referred to as “North Nevada’s Original Radio Drama,” is taking a break from the main storylines of the current season. Starting on Sunday, KNVC 95.1 FM will air and stream live a special trilogy of episodes that delve into origins of Josiah Harridge, the town of Harridge, Nevada, and Harridge House itself.

Poker run, lacrosse, duck fundraiser and more highlight weekend activities around Carson City area

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region. The American Cancer Society is hosting a poker run Saturday at Mills Park, and a free lacrosse clinic for kids ages 6-12 will be held at John L. Harvey Field. The Nevada Humane Society is virtually hosting its annual “Adopt a Duck” fundraiser for interested participants. Carson City community radio KNVC 95.1 continues to grow as it enters third year on the air

Carson City’s own community radio station, KNVC, has been quietly churning out locally curated music, news, information and talk shows for about three years now, and they’re only gaining speed as time goes on.

KNVC runs out of the historic Adams House on North Minnesota Street and, at present, boasts 31 volunteers into its broadcasting family.

His repeated stays in the historic Comstock town inspired his latest book of poems, Mine Tailings. It is dedicated to the people of Silver City. The book was released by 5 Sisters Press this Fall, and will be the focus of Lee’s reading at the Silver City Schoolhouse (community center) on Saturday, Nov. 2 at 1 p.m.
