Library marches forward with March youth and teen events
Carson City Library will be a busy place for youth and teens all month-long during the green month of March. Storytime will continue on Thursdays, March 5, 12, 19, and 26. Two storytimes are available at 10:15 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. in the library’s Digitorium.
Love on a Leash will be offered on Saturday, March 7 and Saturday, March 21 at 1 p.m. in the Digitorium. Love on a Leash is an opportunity for children to read to well-trained therapy dogs and each child gets a free book to take home. An-all-time favorite program is the LEGO® Club where participants can create a world of LEGOS-build what can only be imagined.
LEGO Club will be held on Saturday, March 14 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., in the Digitorium. Wednesday, March 18, a Bilingual Storytime will be held in the Digitorium at 6 pm. This monthly storytime includes songs and stories in English and Spanish-fun for the whole family.
A special St. Patrick’s Day Storytime and Craft will be held on Tuesday, March 17 at 3:30 p.m. in the Youth Department. St. Patrick’s Day themed stories will be read and participants are invited to make hanging streamer rainbows. Supplies will be provided. Teen Tech Week kicks off March 8 through March 14. Teens are invited to visit the library and enter the Digital Objects Contest. The challenge is to complete four digital object items for a chance to win an Amazon gift card. Contest details can be found at the youth desk or by calling the youth department.
Other Teen events include Game Corner on Saturday, March 14 at 12 pm. “Gamers” can play a variety of trading card games. Friday, March 20, Exploring Virtual Worlds offers a chance to play and discuss a selection of video games. This event is held in the Teen Portal and begins at 3 pm.
Teens are invited to participate in the Teen Advisory Board. This meeting is to be held Thursday, March 19 at 3 pm in the Digitorium. The Teen Advisory Board is an opportunity to share an opinion and make it count. Library staff wants to know what the teens in this community are interested in, as well as what teens would like to see at their public library. Refreshments will be provided.
